[Suggestion] Never lose chat focus while typing!

Hi!

When typing while crafting, for example, I lose the focus on the chat at the end of the synthesis. At that time, if I'm trying to finish my sentence, I just bring up a bunch of windows since the chat focus as been lost and I'm activating shortcuts.

This is quite frustrating and has lead to some undesirable results.

Would it be possible to NEVER lose the chat focus?

There are two other issues along the same vein.

#1. Canceling out of a message still leaves the message there. This is counter to every other game I can think of that I've played, where canceling a message completely gets rid of it, meaning I can hit ESC to clear a message then start over. Instead, I instinctively hit ESC and then have to re-activate the chat, backspace through all of it, and begin my new message. I find this counter-intuitive.

#2. Anything that causes focus to leave the chat window resets the chat channel to the current default. I can't tell you how many times I've said something in the wrong channel because I resumed typing something and sent it out without verifying that the chat channel didn't revert. If you're not going to clear the message, you shouldn't be clearing the channel. If you do resolve #1, I wouldn't worry about #2 after that.

I would personally just prefer another chat tab. Just the one at least, please? My single custom tab is taken up by FC/party chat and I want a custom tab to use with the /echo commands I have set up inside my crafting macros.

Agreed. A few examples that have happened to me:

One of my FC mates offered to give me some gear he'd crafted, and as I was trying to type out a "yes, thank you" in chat, the Trade window popped up and interpreted my next keystroke as declining the trade that I was trying to accept.

There was also the time I was in a FATE party and a party member ported to town while I was typing something to my FC, and the system interpreted my next chat keystrokes to mean I'd port there along with him.

I've also accidentally declined some sort of invitation because I was typing at the time it popped up. I'm not even sure if it was a party or FC invite, and although I might have chosen to decline it anyway, I'd much rather have had a chance to see who was inviting me to what so I could make that decision for myself.

Oh, and a fairly common one: When doing the Guildhest roulette, I want to see that window that pops up telling us which guildhest the roulette dropped us into, but I'll usually be typing a greeting to the group when it pops up and that dismisses it. (Of course, most of them are straightforward enough that it doesn't matter too much, but it's still a bit annoying.)

I want the ability to pause what I'm typing and handle something else that comes up, and then go back and finish my sentence. It would be really annoying if doing so wiped out what I'd already written. (I just want that switching to another window to be manual rather than automatic, so the system will stop interpreting our chat keystrokes as an answer to whatever the pop-up window asked.) Shift+home on those occasions you want to cancel a message is easier than re-typing it on those occasions you want to keep it and finish what you were saying.

Kinda personal preference on this one. Personally, I'm much more likely to want to start over than to resume, and for me ESC->Enter is quicker/easier than Ctrl+A->Backspace, especially since the first is what every other game I've played has used. Plus, if I want to abort a message entirely, ESC is the button I'm going to press, because my brain is convinced that someday the chat pane will act the same way it does in other games. Then I have to Enter back into the chat window just to clear it out and hit yet another button to leave it.

This now also happens if there's a ready check in progress and it completes while you're typing. I got to experience that first hand and ended up running headlong into Twintania before a pull. -_-;

Pop-up dialogs for Ready Check, Vode Abandon and Vote Dismiss should not steal focus or at least be staggered so they dont' overlap each other. I was just about to click on vode dismiss yes to boot an *hole from CT who was intentionally f8ng up the entire run since he'd already got the drop he wanted when the *hole must have initiated a vote abandon on top of his dismiss and the entire party ended up saying yes to 'abnadon' instead of 'dismiss' - we all ended up booted and the *hole had no penalty for being a jerk.
