Twintania....which tank shoudl i use?

hey guys. SO i have ilvl 90 warrior, and ilvl 89 paladin. I'm the maintank for our turn 5 attempts. I have tried both. Seems to me like warrior is smoother actually. Because I can inner beast every DS, at most im taking 4-4.5k damage, less if theres other mitigation, and that's roughly 45% of my health, and the inner beast lessens the next autoattack or plummet. With paladin, seems I run out of cooldowns and will take bigger DS, but then whern i have cooldowns, im taking smaller ones, and in general, plummets hit for 20% less.

So not really sure which is better. Any thoughts? My own opinion is warrior is better, but maybe i'm biased, i find paladin really boring lol.

People tank him with both jobs. I have only tanked him on PLD. (no kill yet however) But DS is very healer dependant. i90 topped off with SS and Adlo you shouldn't get one shot. (DS+Auto)

I like WAR more for main tank from healer perspective.

i did it last week with me on warrior MT, and 2 scholars. DS was very well controlled, most of the time less than 3k damage, and lustrate seems awesome and apparently not affected by healing debuff.

Warrior is more effective as MT, since you have on-demand mitigation (Inner Beast), to mitigate Death Sentence.

Short answer: Either is fine.

Long answer: Use whichever you feel more comfortable with.

Longer Answer: Be the complementary tank to your partner if you are 2-tanking Twin. If he is PLD, you should be WAR and vice versa.

PLD and WAR can MT with no really important diferences between them, but, PLD stun is the best way for to easy stun lock dreadknights, then if your group have a WAR, He can take twintania during last phade and you should take dreadknights like PLD imho. I have killed twintania 5 or 6 times.

The ability to pop Inner beast = the same as pld full time buff shield oath. So your basically mitigating exactly the same as pld. You have the potential to reduce the damage more w/ pld via a block.

Warrior of course have the benefit of the extra heal % per heal and they probably benefit more from adloquium do to the higher total hp.

If your dps is not that hot it would be best to have pld stun lock dreads but, groups w/ higher dps the dread typically dies 1-2 secs after the first stun.

In the end though its just up to the user or the group.

The first sentence belief is a view that is quite widespread, and utterly wrong.

The second sentence is technically correct (Defiance doesn't actually reduce incoming damage) but misses the point (because of the increased HP and healing it grants)

Mathematically, Shield Oath = Defiance in terms of being able to take punishment and survive.
Point-for-Point, PLDs just get a tiny bit more eHP back from heals than a WAR (region of 2.5%)

Inner Beast is ADDITIONAL survivability on top of Defiance.
A WAR in Defiance using Inner Beast is basically the same as a PLD in Shield Oath popping Rampart.
The PLD's Rampart lasts longer, but the WAR's Inner Beast is available more often.
Death sentence is a single hit that comes very regularly, so Inner Beast can be used every time.

PLD's blocks are very, very nice in terms of reducing average damage over time, but they can't be relied upon to kick in for one particular hit. That's where Inner Beast shines.
WAR is the better tank for dealing with regular short spikes of extreme damage. PLD is better at dealing with constant high damage over time.

A PLD can certainly handle them, but a WAR is tailor-made for dealing with Death Sentences.

Good tanks have both PLD and WAR available and use whichever is more beneficial to the party/content.
