Reset moved to weekend?

I'll just throw this out there.

I wish that the CT, Coil, tomes, etc. reset happened Friday so that people who can only play on weekends would still have the opportunity to find people to run dungeons with. When people get their loot or max out on tomes by midweek, there is less incentive to run dungeons a few days later. People wanting to run Coil on the weekend were kind of SOL in finding people to go with them, especially if they were still needing practice.

If I understand correctly, the Coil lockout is going away in 2.2, right? Will there be a similar lock out to the new turns though?

And btw, I don't know if Balmung is the only server like that, but we have at least a dozen of groups doing T1-2 and up to T4 every week end. There are plenty of people who just go in week ends because it's easier to organize a static or a PUG

The servers struggle sometimes on Monday nights due to the reset and the rush of players knocking out their caps for the week. I'd rather this struggle not be moved to Friday nights.

I suspect that this is being done the way it is specifically because it staggers interest. People who jump on it right away on Monday make up a large chunk of players. But they are a subset of the whole player base, while people who can only play consistently on weekends makes up another large concentration of players. If they reset on Friday, those two groups would converge, and you would have an unacceptable spike in usage of a single service in a short amount of time. I actually wish they would take it in the other direction, and stagger the resets a bit. Make Tomes reset on Monday, Crystal Tower reset on Tuesday, and Coil Reset on Wednesday. That would produce a much more beneficial distribution of resource usage for both the company and the community.

By staggering them, you also provide an artificial impression of priority. After Tomes reset, there's a grace period, then Crystal Tower has the "most" time, while Coil feels more compressed into the weekend. It's all artificial, of course, since each reset gives a full week, and you can do each activity whenever you want and still receive all of the rewards for it. But that impression of priorities would be a subtle tweek in the player's perspective towards the intent of the developers. Of course, you could mix up the resets to give the impression of other priorities.

I will concur with this statement.

SE has done server timer resets at Japanese midnight on a Sunday night for years with FFXI with Conquest standing/Besieged/Campaign etc, so this is nothing different. At least it's consistent.

That's a neat idea. ^_^

And y'all are right, I didn't consider the server load issue since I play usually during off-peak times on my server.
