Desynthesis
One of the features that I find I miss the most in regards to crafting, is the ability to desynthesize items.
Unfortunately, I am afraid that adding a desynthesis feature would create even more of a shortage of crystals than there is now in the game.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

I don't think there is a shortage of crystals at all. The bots have plenty for sale on the wards.

Yeah. I don't do business with bots or RMT, so I am not aware.
But back on topic, is there room in FFXIV for desynthesis, or is it completely unnecessary?

I liked this Idea: :P
New Disciple of Land: Recycler
Recycler is easy: DoL: Tools are Cutting Brands (A type of large heavy duty scissor or pipe cutter used with one or two hand.) and Melting Pot, A pot used to seperate metals. Recyclers takes Weapons, Armor, and other crafted but non consumeable equipment and break it down into one or more of its core items.
Cutting Brands: When used an "Glowing Orb" is spun into a vice on a work bench and using one or two hands the Recycler Cuts away at it. Used mostly for cloth and leather based armors or when you prefer to only recycle the Leather or Cloth based materials from a core item. Has a higher chance to recycle Leather or Cloth.
Melting Pot: A pot is put out with a large fire under it, and a small forge bellow for the fire. The crafter puts a orb in the pot and uses the bellow to melt it down and a small ladle to clean out contaminates from the materials. Used when the metals in an item are preferd to be recycled. Has a higher chance to recycle metals and ingots.

It would def make grind easier, and not in a way that breaks the game.

I dont find there is a shortage of shards or crystals. Almost any fish can be turned into crystals. Im almost overflowing with them tbh.
But yea desynth would be cool for some items.

I am hoping that the addition of Desynthesis will allow for more availability of semi-fished goods like repair materials.
For example if a Weaver needs to repair a Cotton Robe, instead of making Cotton Fent from scratch and using that, the Weaver could unstitch a Cotton Coif and use the resulting material to repair the Cotton Robe.
