Steps:
As this is more of an exploit as I've witnessed it happening a few times and immediately left the fight after so I confirmed it's not just a random occurance. I won't go into too many details to prevent wipe spread use of this, just going to state that it involves pet classes, Scholar in particular.

This, much like Titan Hard Mode and Twitania last year, causes their script to cease to function and they'll act as if you didn't even enter the battlefield.
