Simple AOE Mage Poll
i've seen the debate and everyone feels they are on the right side so i just wanted to place a little poll to see which side the majority of people stood on the aoe toggle subject. some want aoe toggle removed and have individual skills such as firaga added and some feel that the additional skills would add too much clutter since there is already an option. i'm just going to place a small section for each of the options and just give a thumbs up to which you would support.
also, would it be possible to get a poll option added to the forums so people could post actual polls in the forums instead of having to do a work around?

option 1. remove AOE toggle and replace each spell with multiple versions for an aoe and single target spell. would you like this?
-
option 2. leave the spells as they are with the single button toggle. would you like this?

I am going with option 2.
Reason: More heals to take up my action bar? No thanks. I hate it when I am the only caster in the party it means I have to cure, and can't DD. I could do both, but I'd be out of mana very quickly in a long drawn out fight.
If I can use all my abilities at any time, fine I'd go with option one. But if the ability list has a limit. I have to give up 2 extra spells that I could use to DD with for two more heals. Cause you know you'd need to Sacrifice III/Cure III and Sacrifiga III/Curaga III all the time.
God I hope with advanced roles allow me to have a different title. Instead of seeing Conjurer, it says Wizard (Black mmmaaa...ugh ge) If it does I will have the biggest grin on my face, cause it'll be my nice way of saying "Hahaha I ain't your healer now, so f%$# off"
Damn you SE for making both DoM have heals.

I agree with Jin, too many actions already clogging up my action bars.
(As it is, I use 2/3 of them completely full just for my combat skills.)
Keep toggle, thx.

All they need to do is just tweak the AOE user interface a bit so that it's not so clunky to use and make it so that it takes at least one less button press to do what I want it to do. Perhaps having offensive and defensive spells be AOE toggled separately as well.
In addition, do something like this: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...8sample-pic%29

Personally I'm not sure how to aproach the removal of the toggle. Perhaps just make the toggle permanent but not require you "Checking it" everytime you cast a spell.
Perhaps make the spell icons read and look different if AOE is on or off to prevent people from "Forgetting" what option they were on.

I'm voting Option 2, but I'd like an Option 1.5. Give us Cure and Curaga, Fire and Firaga, and let those who want to set both the single and the AOE, but also let us hit a toggle to turn one into the other on the fly.
Ie, player Bob might want 1: Cure 2: Curaga 3: Fire 4: Firaga and he'll always remember his action bar is set up like this so please remove the toggle.
Player Malcolm might want 1: Cure 2: Fire, and when he hits Z it turns it into 1: Curaga 2: Firaga. He wants to stick with just those two buttons and have a modifier (Z) for when the situation requires him to AoE his spells or pull them back in to a single target.
Bob doesn't want to deal with toggles. Malcolm wants to use his space economically.
Is there any reason they can't both have it their way?

how about option 3. AoE toggle system stays as is, make it so that Support and healing spells grant the THM cone effect. Nukes and Debuffs the Conj AE effect.
Option 4. Vice Versa
edit:
option 5. give both con & thm full access to both cone and AE toggles, managed via /commands. (or single button/combination)

I wonder how many people complaining about AoE toggle know that pressing Z automatically switches toggle on and off....
