Coil (in general)

So...here's my thing. I can get ilvl90 gear from just running roulette and hitting my cap every week, so why bother with coil other than just for S and G's?
Now, depending upon your build you might want to mix and match certain pieces....but then you're only going after a certain turn repeatedly, not coil in its entirety.
As it stands right now I would much rather get into roulette each day for about 2 hours and then hit CT for my myth (and probably not die a whole bunch). So in essence, the only time i would go into coil is to go after something specific, maybe.
I guess it's for the people who care about clearing the game's currently most difficult content?

That's pretty much exactly it. Coil gives you the chance to acquire top tier gear that will supplement your myth spending. It offers faster vertical improvement at the cost of being a fairly demanding set of challenges. Once the next tier of gear comes out and the first turns of coil are made easier, it will become more accessible to players that, as you said, may simply have no need to acquire that gear otherwise.

I dont understand why people dont do coil. Its the best loot and the most challenging content in the game. Sure some myth is BIS over allagan gear, but still, its lvl 90 gear that you dont have to spend myth on. If it wasnt for coil, I probably would have quit the game a while ago. What do you do with all your 90 gear other than stand in revenants toll or do primals/dungeons that are easily beatable without great gear. Where is the challenge?

Not to mention, the main story is tied to coil as well, so theres that. I guess a better question would be what is the point of doing coil pre 2.2? And the answer for me, is to be entertained with difficult content, while acquiring the best gear possible through mix and match allagan/myth, getting the BIS weapons (T5), and being ready to tackle Turn 6-9 right away when 2.2 is released. Doing coil pre patch imo is to satisfy hardcore or semi hardcore players and their groups.

Well there are a few reasons, some find it intimidating, can't find groups, aren't in an FC, have little interest in dungeon content (I don't understand why but some people just aren't into it), some people who do coil take it way too seriously and that can turn people off And on the other side some people just don't care enough to learn and just don't want challenges.

I just realized the other day that I haven't done a single level 50 roulette for a month or more because I get all the mythos I need from Coil and the occasional S&G's CT run. Dungeons and even CT are just a nuisance because of the Philo cap and having to remember to spend them every now and then. What reason is there to run roulette?

Why bother playing this game at all?

Hell, why bother playing anything at all? Just work for your entire life then die. Sounds productive to me, and definitely not fun.

EDIT: One cannot stop there though, why do anything at all? Why do we do anything; for what purpose? If we did not want to do things, why are we alive?

I'll give you my answer: due to my peculiar job timetable (back home always late in the evening), I cannot join most of my FC runs. I could join coil through Party finder, of course,.... But what would you do if you had very little or no experience, and in all Party finder groups you'd read: "Only experienced players , fail = kick"??

Is it hidden in Turn 3?

200 myth in about 30-40 mins, the best weapons in the game and some of the best gear, it also is part of the main story. What else do you have to do?
