Market Board - Ideas (Undercutting prevention)

Edit: Only after posting this I realized this should have been titled Undercutting reduction due to laziness/ignorance...

So I've seen a few similar ideas and will be honest that I haven't hunted the board very hard to see if this has already been posted but these were just some of my personal thoughts. (Also, people that are all about click efficiency will probably hate this.)

Here's what I'd like to see:

1. When selecting an item for sale, a simple check would be run for:

   a. A seperation of the following HQ/NQ stats:

   i. How quickly items are selling.

   ii. The average sale history price.

   iii. The average cost of items currently for sale.

   iv. How many items are currently for sale.

2. Based on calculations made, the user is presented the following options:

   a. Gil Priority

   i. Price would be set at or slightly above market value depending on how quickly the item sells (demand) and the current quantity of items for sale.

   ii. Players would have no input on this price.

   iii. If it has been over 4 days since the last sale and there are less than 2 of the items for sale the player is prompted to input a custom price.

   b. Sale Speed Priority

   i. Price would be set at or slightly below market value with the goal being the item is sold within 24 hours.

   ii. Players would have no input on this price.

   iii. If there are many of the item for sale and it has been over 24 hours since the last sale the player is warned the item does not sell quickly and is prompted to enter a custom price.

   c. Custom Price

   i. Players can enter their own price but the suggested price in the entry field is an average of the 5 most recent sales and the current items up for sale.

   ii. If a player enters an extremely low price in comparison to the price history and the items currently for sale (i.e. 25% below the number derives from 2.c.i.) the player is given a confirmation button to click OK/Cancel that they are aware they are selling the item well under value. The additional click becomes a negative deterrent to severe price cutting

And if no item have ever sale? Like new items thats come to the market?

Its a free market you are not going to stop the under cutters... Some of them even sell things lower than what a npc would pay for them... Best thing is to buy and resell at a higher price...

Good thought on the NPC items too. A warning that NPC's will buy this at a higher rate may be a good notice for the player to receive when they totally tank an items price.

It's MMO economics it will never be like IRL, no laws against dumping exists in here :)

City estates should have a merchant guild of some sort that regulates somewhat prices. Prices should go up and down at merchants, even the repairs costs.

Not that i am asking anything but only SE could regulate and make rules and I don't believe they want to do anything except allow gil to disappear from game.

I think that could be quite simple to address. Take the base cost of materials from elsewhere on the market and use that as the minimum sale price. If it's a dropped item, base the cost on similar items from the market.

A merchant guild could be a really useful idea. Let's say you dump items to the vendor for a lowered price. Those items are auto-listed by the vendor on the Marketboard for a minimum sensible buyout. Of course the gil goes nowhere, but it would allow SE to increase the gil return for selling items to vendors, and not have any real impact on the economy. Everyone would win.

The effect would be that there's more incentive to sell quick to vendor if you are desperate for gil, but keeps the marketboard healthy for those who rely on it.

Just an idea, there's probably a multitude of reasons why it couldn't happen.

Best way to prevent those that camp the market board and constantly undercut is to change how the market board works. Remove the "Adjust Price" feature, if a person wants to change their prices to undercut someone, they would need to cancel their sales item, which would go to moogle mail for pickup. The person would have to run to moogle and pick up the items then run back to their retainer to relist the items. Furthermore, adding a listing fee that charges you gil right when you list something and you don't get a refund on that at all unless your item sells.

So, cancelling items that goes to moogle mail is a massive deterrent for those that camps the market board as it's work for them to run back and forth between as well as losing Gil every time they list items.

If those 2 methods gets implemented, the market board will stabilize better as there would be less chronic undercutters that camps the board all day.

A merchents lissence. Emplement a variable rate lissence for the right to sell items, have the cost of the lissence be 10 x ilv per slot.

3 retainers, each restricted to their respective city state. Have acces to them restricted to said city state.

Implement a "shipping price" on non spirit bound items x times ilv as a transport fee. Have it apply only if more than three non bound items are held in a particular inventory (head gear, rings, etc) but have it emplemented only after a retainer is accessed. (I can already see where this can be abbused by using a suplamentery acc to transfer items, or the fc storage)
