Missing gathering mini game

What has happened to the mini games we knew from 1.0?

Lately I leveled my botanist to 50 and it wasn't the same as before but I could live, more or less, with the compromiss.
On friday I tried the fisher. Oh boy, what have you done? We had to "fight" the fish to reel in. Now we watch/hear a rod and klick when the rod moves... Is that really all what is needed?
This is a compromiss I can't live with. It needs to be mentioned that a huge amount of fish is useless too.

Has there ever been made a statement from a responsible developer?

Yes there has been.

Fishing was deliberately devalued. Probably as an anti bot measure. Not that bots couldn't fish in 1.xx.....

Yep gathering changed so much from 1.0. I preferred 1.0 version better in mining botany and fishing.

This will make the luminary tool achivement impossible. way way way too long to grind with a mini game.

At 1.0 Release it was intended that gathering is a "full job". This in mind they made a mini game. A kind challenge. Now we have the disgusting system we have in every game.

Search node -> pick -> pick -> search again to pick...

Not that they eased the system itself, no they even placed the nodes in a tiny place.

Was it so bad to choose which hight and ankle to chop?

People had all 3 gathering luminaries even before patch 1.23.
