Careful rolling on CT loot.

If you're weird like me and like to collect CT loot and store it on your retainer, keep very good track of what you already have and make sure you don't mis-click when you want to pass.

You can be awarded a useless duplicate item, waste your roll for the week, and GMs will not help you. Most of them won't even understand your problem. It took me four tries to get them to understand that I was asking if they could reset my roll, and they -still- just insisted I post on the bug report forum, which is all kinds of wrong (backed up by the fact that said post is now in "not a bug report").

It's a minor issue, but it can be a real kick in the pants to waste a week because you clicked the wrong box. Mostly I wanted to give a heads up that if you're used to WoW-like GM service where they can fix loot mistakes and whatnot, you won't find that with this game, so don't waste your time opening tickets and trying to explain to GMs the difference between a bug and an oops.

Storage had always counted as a separate space. Meaning the game does not check these locations to is if you already have an item your looting on. Was like this in FFXI as well.

Yeah, that happens with all the unique untradables. I lotted on some tank loot no one wanted in Brayflox and went to me retainer only to find out I already had the piece. It'd be nice to be able to see what stuff your retainer had from a menu (just obviously not be able to trade to and from) just so you could remind yourself.

I don't love the fact that stuff on your retainer doesn't count toward being a unique item you already have, except in the case of the two bottles of fantasia I have.

Did I expect it? No. Hence the lack of rage. I just thought I'd ask because that's part of what GMs do in a lot of games.

I'm not sure why this has turned into another "CT loot" thread. You clicked the wrong box, not CT's problem.

Actually, it's really odd that FFXIV doesn't have item recovery services. Most MMO's do.

But in OP's case, resetting a roll is a bit much. It may involve systems beyond a GM's capabilities.

This is why I keep a list of what uniques I already have in excel.

or you could...you know...just wait a week.
