Adding a market API that websites could use to build tools for analyzing the markets would be very useful. I would love to see something like The Undermine Journal available for FFXIV.

ffxiah.com was one of the sites that I used most for the last couple of years that I played XI; I fully support an initiative like that being made possible for XIV!
LOL not a freaking possibility considering parsers are half legal atm, oh not to mention it will take quite A TON of work considering we don't have a world wide integrated market from all servers at once like gw2 instead of a stupid server only market (and very vulnerable to transferring server abuse to buy low on server A and sell high on server B)) which reminds me of the fact that SE might release their market API after they let loose those poor legacy players moving to non legacy servers!
Unless you can xfer all your gil without converting it to goods, there really is no gain in xferring. Bringing over a huge supply of goods to sell, generally causes deflation. The amount of gil you can usually xfer, helps to compensate for the massive loss of your gil caused by deflation of your goods you brought in to the new market.
World of Warcraft does not have a combined market either, yet their API shows stats for individual servers. It would not be a ton of work, it is just exposing the market data for analysis - in fact, having it be per server significantly decreases the load anyway. They already provide extensive sales history data in game, so I would love to see it available externally as well.
FFXIAH Also showed prices for the AH on FFXI for each server. Might want to verify things before blasting an idea.
