regarding about world transfer legacy to non legacy

hi,
i would like to know if we now able to transfer a legacy character to non-legacy server?

reason: just realize one of friend just created a character to lv50 in a legacy server, want him to join me in tonberry.

is there any solution to this if its impossible for the transfer?eg. write a letter to SE etc?

As of right now, no. They're going to review it soon, if they're not already.

At issue is the massive amounts of gil on the legacy servers. They don't want all that gil suddenly getting dumped onto non legacy servers.

They could set exchange rates that converts the player's gil according to the situation of the server, if needed.

Seeing quite a bit of threads about legacy to non-legacy transfers pop up in the past 2 days...

Exchange rate doesn't matter because you are only allowed to transfer 3mil of gil with you: 1mil on you, 1 mil on each of your retainers.

What people do instead is buy tons of stuff from one server and dump it all on another server. This can really mess up the supply.

But really, the economy on most server is so crap that most of this doesn't really matter that much anymore.

I thought that legacy economy/prices are a lot higher than none-legacy. So if savage aim is 200k on a legacy server, it's only like 50k on a none-legacy. Doesn't that kinda balance everything out? Inb4learneconomics101

It is higher yes, probably not by that margin...

But that's not the point. What you are effectively doing is bringing items that did not exist on and pumping it into the market. Even if it is originally 200k, and you buy 100 of it, take it to another server and sell it 50k each. You just brought in 5mil of goods that did not exist in the market and damaging it.

If 1 or 2 people do it, it may be not very noticeable. But expand this into hundreds or even thousands of people. The server transfers have now then sucked billions of gil out of the original players of the server. Yes the "relative wealth" of the server transfer balanced out, they have less gil but things cost less. But the original players now have billions of gil loss buying things that did not belong on their server.

This all wouldn't really matter for people that started out during ARR. The problem is the people from 1.0, it worked on a different economy system. I did play 1.0 way back in the beginning even though I don't remember much of it, but gil was apparently easier to come by back then... People were hitting the gil cap hence they legacy tax reducing people's gil into 1/10. Having too many of these people transfer into non-legacy servers would really wreck the economy for people on those servers
