So I like crafting a lot, but is it worth it? Like are HQ items better than dungeon items?
Thanks in advance! ^_^

HQ is as good as pink aetherial items, not as good as green unique items however. Though if you're leveling it, why not push for HQ so you gain more EXP?
That's true, thanks for answering.
Also, how do you get aetherial items?
O.o
Don't listen to him Hito.
It's sad but non HQ items are not worth the effort most of the time.
In general though, HQ crafted gear is superior to green or pink gear with the same ilvl.
That is if you meld materia into the crafted items. Overmelds make them even better but are not required.
The only exception to that, are the green ilvl90 items you buy for Tomes of Mythology.
Another aspect is that you don't have to run a dungeon multiple times to get some specific piece of gear.
Just craft it, meld it and focus on the next content level.
EDIT: Aetherial items usually can be found in chests during levequests or from treasure hunting chests.

That's what I was talking about. They're comparable for the most part. Who cares about materia melding before level 50 (which he is). :/ We're talking the leveling gears here, not level 50 i70/i90 gears. -.-"
Also, aetherial can come from dungeon chests.
So endgame, HQ items are not worth it from what I understand. But while leveling, HQ items are worth it. That's the gist of it right?
I feel that if you can HQ the items or buy them cheaply enough, you should use HQ items to maximize your spiritbond speed and potential. A HQ item spiritbond 25% faster than a NQ item. You can convert them into materias, save them for end-game HQ item melding. Since each items have a cap of how much you can meld into it, materia I and II are not entirely useless.
Regarding endgame HQ items, some of them are worth it (like Gryphonskin ring, rose gold ear screws, astral ring/bracelet) since you're trading a little of primary stats for more of other stats like strength (1 vit for almost 2 str on the rose gold ear-screw) or vitality (to survive turn 5 at the cost of little bit of mind/int). Also they're adding new recipes so we'll see if those new recipes HQ will be worth the time like how i70 was considered way better than Darklight at the beginning to push contents.
It depends on what your goal/reason for crafting the items is.
If you are going to be using them, then yes HQ.
If you are just trying to complete your crafting log, then no.
Pre-50, melded HQ items will be the best for the level. Actually, there are some elementally aspected recipes that requires leve rewards to make. These are usually the real best for their level - they have the same stats as items ~3 levels higher.
Post-50, there are 'starred' recipes for higher ilvl items. I think the melded 2-star recipes are slightly better than the dungeon drop ilvl70 items. There are no crafted items that compare above ilvl70 at the moment.
They will always be viable during leveling up and the highest ilvl crafted gear is viable for the first endgame content too.
Like relic quest, Crystal Tower, hard mode dungeons.
And even if you start doing coil these pieces can be used till you can replace them with higher ilvl gear.
For harder stuff like extreme primals or the later coil turns you will need some better gear.
I agree with Lemon though, especially accessories can serve you for a long time.
