Wanting to come back after extended leave

I quit playing the gaming shortly after launch due to feeling a bit underwhelmed after reaching max level. I know a lot of changes have happened since launch and I was hoping that I could have some opinions on the current state of the game.

1. I really wanted to level an alternate job on my character after completing the story quest and hitting lvl50. The problem was that the only feasible way to do this was by fate grinding. That was extremely boring and somewhat tedious. My question is, has anything done to improve alt leveling?

2. End game content. When I first hit 50 I did a few of the end game dungeons and hard mode summons. Has there been anything else added to work on at the lvl cap?

3. How is the PvP? I usually like pvp and am curious to see how it works in this game.

1. Depends on the class, it might be faster to dungeon grind now since it gives much better EXP compared to before. Tanks classes will have instant queue so you should be able to level it easily. Not so much with DPS classes.
2. Moogle Mog, Pharos Sirius, Copper Bell mine HM, Haukke Mannor HM, Crystal towers, Extreme mode primals. Coming Brayflox HM, Halatali HM and coil turn 6-9. I doubt you've cleared coil turn 1-5 so..... that's new for you too.
3. PVP is meh, a lot of unbalances right now but they're trying to fix it in 2.2.

I would ask you the question of what MMO does not have its tedious stuff? These games are designed to be played for years, not a month or 2. If choosing to grind your level at max speed is your game then grinding is what you will face. There is so much content in this game for being as new as it is. Sure some stuff is a grind, and it's meant to be that way. The game would have very little replay value if everything was just handed to you on a daily basis.

1) leveling an alt is not that much of a difficulty if you spend time on it ofc. I leveled up a monk to 50 in more or less 3 weeks time w/o spending too many hours playing. I just did roulette every day which gives a ton of xp, then waiting in queue for the last unlocked dungeon while fate grinding. It was actually faster than i expected but as i said i was playing only with monk.
2)There are a few things to do after 50. Starting relic quest and after going to hard mode primals for relic weapon ( you can upgrade your weapon as you progress Ifrit-i60 weap, Garuda-i70-Titan i80, unlocking ct which gives i80 armor gear ( 1 item/week tho), completing story quests ending up to fight king Moogle (i75 weapons). You can start farming your philosophy tomes with main scenario and high-level roulette everyday and after you can start with myth tomes.
3) I havent tried pvp yet so no advice here.

For your first query, battlecraft levequests now give far more exp than they used to before, so they're now a viable option for levelling as well, especially in your case having left the game for a few months, you should have the maximum 100 leve allowances saved up, meaning you'll be able to do a lot of leves to level up alts before running out of allowances. ;) There's also the new 2.1 extension to the storyline as well as other new quests to do, so there is a lot more now than there was at launch. :)
