Enough, we want a client-side user interface!

Even after UI lag fixes in previous updates, UI in FFXIV is still so much less intuitive and responsive compared to many other MMOs out there, and I believe this contributes significantly to the feelings of slow, boring, and sluggishness that people are experiencing when playing FFXIV.

A client-sided UI should be the utmost priority tweak for the UI, before anything else.

I know it will take a long time to do this, and that is exactly why you better start working on it now, SE.

I am also sure that the community will greatly value feedback from the development team on this matter.

Please SE just add a better UI suited for pc gamers. I understand the game was meant to be played on console/Gamepad, but I don't want to play with a gamepad I want to play with my Keyboard and mouse. :l Also why can't I open my inventory by pressing I? Why can't I open my Linkshell menu by pressing L? Why can't I open up my point allotment menu by pressing p? Gear should be g. Configuration should be o and attributes I guess could be C? Please just do it :l

Go to Menu, Configuration, Keyboard. You can assign most functions on letters. As a reference, I have Gear on Q, Skills on E, Inventory on I, Journal on J, Point Allotment on P, Emoticons on N, and Loot List on L.

Some keys like the arrow keys and stuff can't be bind yet but the reps already responded to that one saying something like... hmmm what was that...

LOL nah that wasn't it in this case, I think they actually said they are making this one happen pretty soon. (I hope) sorry if I am wrong and it was actually "We'll look into it"

I agree. I hope that the part of the core fixes to the game entail making the UI client-side. The fact that the game in its current state has to check with the server almost any time I press a button really slows things down, creating an overall feeling of lag.

I would cry tears of joy if they confirmed this was in the works.


I have NO issue with the layout of the UI---it's the speed that gets on my nerves. I just want it to be able to keep up with my keyboard input...which I don't think is all that fast, but it doesn't appear to be possible when the server's being checked in on every other click ><

This is a recurring topic on the forums, but I hope this thread gets enough attention to make an appearance on the Dev Tracker, even if it's only for a "We're looking into it." It's infinitely better than silence (*._.')

"we'll look into it" thats the prabably the answer you will get out of SE.
