This can't be said enough. I see tons of elitist players on here that think that just because some people are just getting to end game, it makes them bad.
In many cases, this can't be further from the truth.
It's possible to be both, but highly unlikely. Casuals don't play as often and those specific skills or tactics required to down things aren't as honed or familiar to them. The reason that the elitist attitude exists is because the average casual makes things difficult for more seasoned players by being unfamiliar with tactics and it takes away from the efficiency of a run.
That being said, I'm an elitist, but I don't necessarily toss all casuals into the "bad" box. If you've taken the time to do serious research on something that you're unfamiliar with and you ask for answers that haven't been made explicitly clear in whatever strategy you've reviewed, I'm fine with that.
It's really easy to look at it from one side and make a thread to stand your ground against elitists by making one shallow point. Try looking at it from the other side to gain a better understanding as to why that's the case.
I appreciate your further elaboration, but let’s address the white elephant in the room.
Most elitists say that this game is a watered down WoW, end game is boring and/or empty, and most jobs in this game can be played by the most casual of casuals.
Then in the same discussion, they’ll say it’s not possible for a casual to keep up with the “pros” because they don’t invest the proper amount of time learning complex mechanics… …anyone else see the irony here?
And no Tzelanit, this is not necessarily directed at you. At least you seem like a polite elitist.
There are a few different kinds of elitists, but we get lumped into one category much like casuals get lumped into one category.
I find the game to be ridiculously simple, and I've found that the reason that I can't clear something is the result of the inexperience or indifference of the other players in my group. I even go as far as offering advice on what playstyle changes need to be made to be successful, but the world has been reduced to the "everybody gets a trophy" mentality where people believe that they can do no wrong. Combine this with the anonymity of the internet, and you end up with an online community rife with impatience. The division between elitists and casuals begins and ends at "don't tell me what to do." So, with that, I've learned to drop a tidbit of advice if someone is struggling. If they disregard it and make the same mistake again, they're removed from the group if I'm the leader, or I leave the group if I'm not.
That's the extent of my elitism.
