Dialogue text is WAY too small

This is drastically restricting my enjoyment of this game.

Is there any way to imcrease the size of text on beige background? To me it's nearly unreadable. I often read the log instead (it's adjustable) but this means I'm always following the scene one line behind the events.

Quests are by far to me the most interesting aspect of the game and I'm putting a lot of them just on hold because I want to be able to enjoy the story.

I remember when they said peior to launch that text will be adjustable in a future update but it's 2014 and I still can't see any way to scale those speech bubbles up?

This is not really a PC issue. But when playing from the couch I need to get really close to my 30" screen to ve able to read the text.

This is a PS3 issue. Leave a suggestion in the proper forum or in-game maybe?

General discussion is a proper forum. Anyway, the person clearly has both versions of the game. OP may I suggest some glasses or contacts because i read my screen just fine with my glasses of course.

I hope they make a patch allowing us Zoning the Text 80%,100%,120%,140%. This game have a great storyline.

You have PC or PS3 hooked up to TV?

If PC, is it 1080p or 720p?

Yep I can't see crap when the npcs speak in chat bubbles. I'd love to be able to make it bigger esp for cutscenes. PC user I am.

This is what I thought would be super easy to implement since the font can be scaled in ALL other menus with the boxes.
The text box doesn't use even close to maximum space for it (especially since in most cases it's seen it's the only box on screen.
Yes the text is well written so it's a shame that it's so hard to read.

And thank you the random guy suggesting me to get a pair of glasses since it surely must be only this game that's causing me such problems... Geez.

Is the writing team aware that in addition to the quest boxes being unscalable the text also sometimes bleeds out of bounds completely?

There's a config file called Addon.dat in the folder that contains all of your character's combat logs and stuff (it's in your My Documents >> My Games >> Final Fantasy 14 folder) that contains the size and positions of the UI windows. It's basically just a text file so you can open it in Notepad and make any of the UI windows any size you like, even if they don't show up in the HUD Layout menu.

If I had to guess, that NPC chat/event window is the one called "Talk_a". Close the game, open up the file in Notepad and press Ctrl+F to find "Talk_a". Once you find it, change "f:1.00000" to "f:1.5". Save the file, open up the game, and that window should be 150% size.

I imagine this change is probably reverted if you open the HUD Layout menu, but it's an okay workaround until they finish adding proper sliders for UI scaling.

Obviously this only works for PC, on PS3 you're out of luck.
