Hi guys, so far all BLMs ive seen basically get trained to hell and dont add much to the game.
How do you guys think BLM could be competative? I.e. certain premades, or certain gear.
Im noticing now my current ilvl 73 pvp tank / smn dont really do it for me, so would like to gear / BLM for when i get rank 30 (rank 25 now).
Would be great to get feedback!
Well BLMs get told to sleep different roles each and every group, and there's no regard for how sleep mechanics actually work, you get 2 sleeps 1 full one half, then full resist, purity and heals, make it a waste of mana ( use it to save your own hide), however scathe spamming heals seems to be a decent way to play it, you can run from the dogpile and keep the healer from healing their team. People will generally make you crazy if you try and follow their instructions, probably the reason why BLMs struggle, people don't know BLM mechanics unfortunately keep on insisting to sleep the heals......
Could you explain a bit more about BLM mechanics then? Would like to know more.
I.e. is sleep on shared diminishing returns with stun?
How would you ideally want people to play with you as blm? etc etc
You never sleep others if the healer isn't asleep. General rule of thumb. DPS are binded with Blizzard 2/Freeze and into Blizzard 1 Heavy for melee. If you manage to get Umbral Ice 3 via 3 Blizzard 1. Congratulations you might have some time to do some DPS. Aetherial Manipulation and Surecast is your best friend and like best friends should be used almost constantly. Same goes for Swiftcast.
But with that said. If you cannot play MRD/SMN. Forget about playing BLM cause it is sometimes quite frustrating, even if you do everything flawlessly not only your enemy can screw your day. You teammates can too.
Tane, would it work to like Spy suggests spam scath on healer.. and i.e. if u are on voicechat, time the 6 sec paladin stuns with instant cast aoe sleeps? i mean whole team cced for 6-9 sec seems huge? And healer cant dispell if hes being fully focussed down / stunned / silenced i would say.
So blm would just chase healer, spam scathe and ccs meelee dps / tank should he be hit.. and otherwise, yea, can dps / sleep freely
Sometimes you have to improvise, actually most times, you'll get those people that love to wake your sleeping targets, they tell you to sleep x role and the same person will first attack the person you just slept (even though they were the ones who told you to sleep them). Sleeps can be useful when you're not getting dogpiled and used on targets who are on your healer.
Spamming scathe won't kill the heals but it will make them run and putting them into LoS of their team, sometimes a pld or war will get on it to then you pop off blizz 1 or lethargy on the heals, and keep spamming scathe. If you can tolerate a lot of frustration that comes with playing a BLM you should be fine.
Im for the most part interested in organised pvp only. And even in solo queue, i try to give instructions. And besides, even if the enemy healer dispells quick, dispells arent instant, so sleeping 2 of their dps, might still be worth it, even if its only to gain movement space.
The only need to heal to wake a sleeping target. if you can find that one healer you can actually sleep 99% of the time someone will wake them.
Dispel are almost instant and the way this game has a Laggish Netcode it is always possible to Dispel. That said one of the many skills you need to learn is call "Dragging". Drag their Melee/Tank onto their Healer/Range and then Swiftcast Sleep/ Nightwing. BLM when played well in terms of everyone expending their Purify only need to drag it out till the next DR for Sleep and it's game. Well most of the time unless your teammates are being retarded and breaks everyone out and you'd have to go through another DR cycle.
DR cycle must be clearly understood by your teammates, and they must mentally time it unless you want to time and call out on Voice Chat.
How long is a DR cycle? 1 minute? or more?
