Please change the action bar

The action bar
Personally, I feel that the action bar needs to be changed, along with the AoE choice. At the moment, the way it is, you have to select a target, confirm (with either the mouse and keybourd or with whatever button you mapped confirm on on the controller), select the spell, confirm, select the target and choose to AoE or not, then confirm again. Does anyone else feel like this is a loooong process to cast a spell?

While this may be useful for people that use a controller, as a M&K user, I find this horrible. I don't like having to use enter all the time to confirm all those actions. It hardly makes for a fun experience. Yes, I know I could make some macros, but then why have an action bar?

I think SE should make it so M&K users have a slightly different UI. The action bar should be locked on the screen. Why do we need it to disappear? And all 3 action bars should show, and use could use CTRL and ALT to chose which one to select from. This way you could just press 1 or CTRL1 and away you go. And the AoE function should be toggle on or off before you cast or even select a spell. Again I know you can make macros, but why should we be doing something that, in my opinion, is basic and obvious?

And for those who want to create macros, still have the option, but then they can just be mapped to the hotbars. And instead of having just 1-0, add - and = too, so thats 12 buttons a line you can map, making (as it currently stand) 36 buttons. If that is not enough lines, then add it so if you want to switch to a new set of action bars, shift+1,2,3,4 etc will change that for you. And that changes all 3 bars, not just one. Add a quickbar for the right side of the screen if needed too.

I appreciate that none of the above is new, and have been on other MMOs in some form. And I know that FF is different to other games. I'm not trying to moan, just trying to help improve the game in some way. I love FF, I played 11 for 4 years and had 2 lvl 75 toons. This game just seems rather clunky to me in places, and the above aspects are the main this for me that need changing. Well, that and content, but thats for another post...

Many of us have been saying this back since the beta forums. There needs to be a dual UI instead of the one-size-fits-all UI they've designed. I'm also a mouse/keyboard user. I'm tired of flipping through action bars. I want all three of them to be static on my screen, which will let me either click spells with my mouse or use numbers/bindings to activate them. And I'm tired of having to make a 2nd confirmation every time I cast spell by toggling AoE on/off.

The action bars are not user friendly for keyboard/mouse users.

I'm glad there is another person that feels the same way! I really am. I hope SE are looking through these forums and take our suggestions seriously :)

As i remember correctly the old team, ware having a note about double UI. I think Yoshi-P still have those notes and will implement it sooner or later.

Anyway, I'm gamepad player, i like the current UI, and as of for post bellow, I love to have one bar and switch it with pad it's more jRPG way :D

The thing i'd like the most for the action bar would be an option to extend it or to display multiple action bars on screen, as the option to save my action bars per class.
10 slots on screen, whether they stay on screen or disappear, are way, way too few.

If you think that is a long process, go play ffxiv, to me the cast bar is fine, yes it could have more slots but totally redesigning it is too much imo.

There is no excuse for a modern MMORPG not to offer action bars that automatically switch when you switch jobs. Fix it please.

with gamepad you can press square to toggle aoe off and on... its awesome honestly. what I dislike is having to move horizontally to pick my skills. It makes the ones in the middle leaning towards the right part into dead spots.

Please make the action bar optional... allow people who don't use macros to use it and those who don't want it to not have to use it and just equip our actions off screen.
