Minimap/Radar Toggle!!!!

I couldn't quite find a dev tag for this but I have been wishing for a long time that we could get a toggle option for the minimap and maybe a radar/compass feature like the one FFXI had.

When I'm playing, I find the minimap really distracting and instead of learning my way around visually I end up just staring at that little circle while moving around. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I really wish there were some kind of toggle and a few more options with this thing, like at least resizing it. I've even tried hiding it behind the chat box.

In XI, instead of a minimap you had a regular map that works like the map screen we have now, and a radar that would indicate cardinal directions and mob locations. It's hard to see mobs on the minimap anyway, because the color of the dots can sometimes sort of wash out with the color of the map itself.

Anyway, I was hoping there would be some folks who would agree with me or who might have their own suggestions to offer.

Supposedly the minimap has red and green dots to indicate enemies and NPCs. As a R/G-colorblind person, I can see dots but I have no idea which is which.
