Limit on withdrawal from dungeon queue

Sorry if this has already been posted. I tried a search, didn't find anything.

I feel like there should be a limit to the number of times a person or party can withdraw from duty finder within a short period of time. Maybe three withdrawals in a ten minute period and the next queue can't be withdrawn from.

I've been sitting here for 30 minutes attempting to get into CT. My log is just "A party member has withdrawn from the duty."

Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. What. The. Hell.

It's people trying to squeeze their way into a CT clear closer to the end to get myths and not have to suffer through the less interesting first half of CT.

It sucks, but it needs to stay that way... OR maybe the DF needs to be fixed so that 'join party in progress' LITERALLY should only group players up with others who are in progress. One would say then it's unfair to people who are trying to get a party STARTED but my response to that is that JPiP needs to be just that and now 'Join a party in progress... Not all the time, but sometimes.'

The wait times would be longer but I have a feeling both of you would prefer waiting than getting the guy who wanted to squeak in an easy and quick clear, right?

I'd rather that guy calm down and just take the group. Letting people choose only in progress groups is going to lead to more leaving and we'll STILL have this problem because this hypothetical guy you mentioned is going to insist on getting into a 3/4 group or something like that(Assuming you can see CT progress like other dungeons).

The simple solution would be to remove the line that tells you 3/4 or however many bosses have been defeated. That way you can join in progress, but you can't tailor it anymore than that. The space would be better used to let you know how many people are currently in the party/alliance so you don't join an in progress run to find there is only one other person there who leaves the moment you enter.

SE should make it so that your reward is reduced if you join a party in progress.


You complete half the dungeon? You get half the exp, gil, seals, tomes.

You complete 3/4 of the dungeon? You get 3/4 of the good stuff.

Complete the entire dungeon, you get it all.



Granted, that might make fewer people click on the "join party in progress" button in the first place, but, if you're only doing 1/4 the dungeon, you shouldn't expect/demand to get a full reward in my opinion.

What they need is two check boxes.

- Allow In Progress
- Join In Progress Only

If you don't select either, you get a fresh run only. If you select 'Allow In Progress' you can get either. If you select 'Join In Progress Only' you will get In Progress only.

Why? Because there are people who absolutely do not want to do a fresh run (for whatever reason) and so giving them the Join In Progress Only option means they will stop trolling people who do want fresh runs (the people that keep withdrawing will not simply stop, so quit thinking that). However, there are some people (myself included) who will queue for Allow In Progress because I don't care which I get and because it means that if someone leaves a group already going, they still have the largest pool possible to fill that spot so they can continue.

Awarding end-of-instance bonuses (i.e. tomes) based on what percentage of the dungeon you complete doesn't solve the problem; it just means that if someone leaves your group you will most likely be SoL because then people won't queue at all for In-Progress runs.

"Join in Progress Only" has issues aplenty. If the majority of players are selecting that, more and more instances aren't going to be started. Wait times increase for everyone involved.

Placing a minute or two restriction if you withdraw from a duty queue would be a good way to start addressing the problem.
