Items to make characters unique?

Can we get some items that can be equipped to make our characters a bit more unique? Right now it seems like there is one best build for any job, and everyone else who isn't built that way isn't going to cut it. I would like to see more items that add additional hit points, or add resistance to fire, or nullify poison or increase defense. For example - a mage masher knife. I remember how cool it was to have one of those in FFIX because it would have a chance to add silence to an enemy. Or a sword that had an additional fire damage on it, or a necklace that prevents sleep. I remember how in FFVII how materia would be used to customize a character and different types affected your HP/MP pools. I would like to see accessories that add certain skills or buffs that hold real merrit in battle. That way even though you have the same level i90 gear as the next guy, you can also have a different play style or benefit that they don't.

It would be nice to see more weapons, armor and accessories that had more unique effects instead of everything being so stiffly adherent to standard trinity guidelines. Throw some strange and crazy stuff in for us to play with, they can always balance it out later if they wind up being OP. Looking for different combinations of effects to make them OP is a lot of fun anyway. There's just not enough room for experimentation or novelty in the battle system.

This would be nice...maybe they will do this some day. You can wear your fire resistant earrings ;)
Vanity slots will be coming soon also. But they really need to have armor and items that have resistances or a way for us to meld them on high level gear.

Yes, it would be a great idea to have a bonus effect or status in some gears. It is nice to have an element system going on as well. It's more fun battling while you keep your best damage by using a skill/spell with an element that will counter the enemy's. It's like playing Rock-Paper-Scissor.. Making the game even more exciting! /thumbsup

We're ending up using the same gears in the end, at the current situation..
Additional effects/element in gears is a must! This will give other gears more value other than relying on the stat and gear level. This will give us more unique characters and put more strategies in game.

For example: Primal (Hard Mode) weapons should have their own element; as how they look like, and where they originate. They will be more useful in battles; other than making the older/lower items look like a display in your iventory and taking space..

Um, just so you all know: there are already plans for the creation of vanity items for FF14 arr, but I'm not too sure if they will be making those items have non-aesthetic benefits.
