Logging in from a different location

I get that SE has upped security but locking down the account when a person is logging in from another place due to traveling or visiting someone is just a bit extreme. Would it be possible to just send an email to confirm the log in rather than cut us off from the account and end up waiting about 20 minutes just to get emails to reactivate the account? I believe Guild Wars 2 does something similar to sending the email and you just confirm or deny it. There needs to be an easier way to confirm the logins rather than temp ban the account especially when I'm logging in on a laptop that has been on the game before. I would assume there is someway to recognize the locations you are at to avoid these temp lockouts/bans.

Actually the changed IP address block at login has been in the game since the launch of 1.0 - it's nothing new. SE has stated the only way to avoid it if your IP address is constantly changing (such as logging on from another location) is to invest in a Square Enix Security Token and use the One-Time Password with it - doing so makes the login system ignore a changed IP address.

Even though it can be annoying if your IP address resets for whatever reason (such as your modem kablooing or whatever), it's only a momentary annoyance at best - usually it takes me no more than a few minutes to load up Hotmail, click on the link from the email SE sends (which is always in my inbox as soon as the block executes), and to change my password.

Yea but when you have to do this with two accounts it's freaking annoying. That means having to use two tokens just to get the game to ignore that plus when I travel that means carrying the bloody thing because the cell phone app isn't always 100% if I judge it by the one SWTOR put out for example. I also sometimes log into my boyfriend's account to help him with leveling or just to craft while I run around on my account so if he has a key fob then how the heck am I suppose to do that? We live in different states currently too so just getting the number from him is not exactly convenient.

The token thing isn't entirely true either. I have the token and when I visited my friend it locked me down as well. That entire day was wasted too because by the time they answered to reset, it was just about time to pack up and head back on the train (was a good few hours that I was there too).

I am happy with locking:
- If someone steals my credentials, he gets nowhere.
- If I go somewhere else, the unlock is matter of minutes.
- If someone impatient and want play the very instant he presses login, it is his problem. I don't want trade my security with his impatience.

I haven't had any issues with this either. It only takes 5-10 minutes for me from the time I attempt login, to the time I get an email conformation and then re-log back into the game.

Maybe they can add a feature if you wish to turn this off. But this just makes it that much easier for someone to steal your account. I've lost count on how many times my friends on FFXI were hacked and lost everything they had on their character.
