Is it true one there DEV said crafting sucks?

I heard and going around on the internet about it. One there best selling points on this game and it will change crafting on mmo for years to come. Is this true?

There never be any gear equal or all crafting gear will be lame gear.

When elder scrolls fixed there crafting now and EQN fixed there to match this game version and they improved on it. Soon it will be like if a mmo got a good crafting system it will be a ff14 crafting system or bust.

It be like what CoD did to halo matchmaking system back in the day. Insane stuff and ideas not just quick make it.

5 years from now all mmos will have crafting like fxiv now.

If this rumor true and a DEV said that i would fire him now.

Yoshi did say that crafted great will not be better than raid gear. His reasoning is because he does not want people to stick to created gear in lieu of dungeon running.

However, I believe this point was misconstrued by many. No one gear set is BiS. To get BiS, you need a mix of Allagan, Myth, and XM gear. I think eventually a few crafting pieces will end up as BiS.

Sorry but BiS?

Having come from a game that went from player crafted to looted to looted but player enhanced, I think the last option is the best. Allow the items to be looted and used but then allow for them to be deconstructed in to single use Recipes that when crafted can have Materia slots added to them. It's a win/win for everyone and works out best in the long run.

if they stick to that BS vertical progression ideal, gear from crafting will always be 3rd rate

Being able to make top tier gear through crafting would turn this into an RMT/Pay to Win type of game, Id quit immeidiatly.

I'm guessing behemoth has no one that sells Primals or Coil wins yet nor has any RMT.

I get that crafted gear will never be the best gear, but they should keep adding in crafted gear that is perhaps (on average) five ilvl's less than the existing gear. Make the content difficulty based around the previous dungeon's gear, but give crafting an option to be relevant down the road. (Doesn't even need to be a full set, can be filler pieces like some rings, or a helmet and chest armour, etc...)

XIV seems to be the only game out there that doesn't want it's crafting to be relevant once you touch the end-game dungeons.

Getting high-end gear through crafting is not "paying to win". You 'win' when you beat all the content (and are able to do it regularly), which will still be difficult because of the encounters themselves. The best gear in the world won't save you from eating dirt if you refuse to get out of the AoE.
