So why was Summoner advertised as a pet class

The only viable pet is the one that acts as DoT buff, Titan has absolutely no role in party content and Ifrit is strictly inferior to Garuda in every encounter. Even if they were to add more Egis the only differential between them would be DPS (Or lack there-of) meaning you'll still only ever make use of one pet in any encounter. What's the point of utility if DPS is always the better option and what utility the other Egis do offer is already covered by another role?

I think they need to rework the current pets to offer DPS, Tank role on a pet really isnt worthwhile.

If they made Titan a DPS and re worked his skills it would be better.

While your entitled to your opinion, each summon has it's own strengthens and weaknesses. Titan can make a good off tank and a needed ally in tough situations. Garuda won't get caught by local mob AOE damage and might live longer depending on the fight, plus has the ability to extend the summoners de-buffs. Ifrit is great for damage and for DPS, but dies easily.

Looking forward to more summons in the future, but it's just a matter of personal taste and need.

I'd like to see the other summons icons get updated to reflect titan and Garuda once acquired, just my personal 2 cents.

The problem with SMN is the pet has a small stake in the job's overall performance. They function more like a melee's auto-attack, just some background dps you don't pay attention to.

I feel like the current mechanics they have setup for SMN is too limiting for what they could potentially do in the future.

The DoT aspect of the class ruined it for me. The summoner portion is quite minimalistic and unsatisfying given what we have now.

Titan shines in solo play. You can get your entire Hunting Log done by just using him.
Ifrit's good at the start for that extra DPS, but eventually becomes lackluster.
Don't have Garuda yet to form an opinion on, but I see a lot of summoner's using her Egi instead of Ifrit's so it must be better.

I'm still waiting on Beastmaster.

I've had a summoner use Titan-egi as a stop-gap tank when the tank died in Titan HM once so it's not entirely useless...

The thing is, with the dodge-the-red-circle system we have, it's hard to make summon the main dps of the class.
Since you can't easily control their movement, they'll either die too easy or too hard and make the class imbalance.

That's what I mean, it's a very un-satisfying job (As advertised) right now. People may enjoy the DoT aspect, but that shouldn't be what the focus of SUMMONER is. I understand that classes can evolve into things they aren't designed as based on the community, but Summoner doesn't feel like it was designed to highlight the pets to begin with even though that's supposed to be the entire point of the class from a Final Fantasy perspective. People were already upset about the presentation of the Egis, but making them more of an afterthought rather than a mainstay of the class is wrong and doesn't lend much hype for new summons.

I've pulled out Titan on occasion to tank drakes in Twintania.
Also when the tank dies in dungeons.

I like to use ifrit on large aoe packs like in Turn 4 where Garuda had a tendency to knock things around and upset everyone.
