Getting old real fast
Every quest I get from my trainer can't be done at that lvl. I have to go out and get 4 more lvl's. Then get 1 more lvl and do it all again. Why didn't they just make the lvl 25 quest a lvl 30 quest. You can't do it till then anyway. Can you tell I am freeking frustrated.
I have 4 char. all stuck on trainer quests they can't do at the appropriate lvl. I have to go out and get them all lvl's before they can move on. So the gear they give me is now useless, seeing how I an 4 lvls past it.
This game is awesome, except for this rediculous trainer quests. But it's getting to me and I just might have to move on, this is more frustrating than my job. It's a game, not a job.

Odd.. I have completed every class and job quest I attempted at minimum level or lvl +1. Some took 2 or 3 tries before I figured out what needed to be done. The ONLY job quests that gave me any real trouble were the lvl 15 and lvl 30 arcanist quests.

I don't log in to say much on here... Usually just lurk. However, for you I made an exception.
Stop being bad
Kthxbye that is all

If you cannot complete a class quest within a few attempts and your gear is up to par with the level it's meant for then you need to learn to play. Can't put it any plainer then that unfortunately.

Check if your equipment is up to par with the level of the job quest und use buff food (can use the cheap one you can buy from NPC'S). Each job quest can be done directly at the level you are getting it. Beeing a few levels higher makes those quests a tad easier but most of the time it is a matter of tactics like for example who you attack first or which NPC needs to be healed with priority. I only had problems with a few jobquests on the four classes I played so far and each single problem was solved after either talking to people from my FC or after watching a video.

Kinda what tom said, a lot of these quests you need to really pay attention to what its telling you. Sometimes the captions that pop up give you clues on how to defeat it. Some of them really require you to use your class/job the way it is meant to be played. Like a tank may die in his class quest because hes not getting ALL of the mobs off the one and only healer that is there to keep them alive, so they die(or fight mobs very far away from the healing npc and don't get healed). They come back several levels later and sense they are super strong they can just power through it regardless, which is defeating the lesson the quest is trying to teach.
Healers will die, because they are trying to nuke down the mobs they are suppose to defeat, when in reality they are suppose to be healing people that are there to help them, but because they don't these people/NPCs die, so the player dies, sense there is no one left to help them. imo I think the echo never should of been added, because it really further compounds the problem. Because it further creates a issue where players can "power through" as i said earlier, the content and not have to play it the way it was intended, or learn anything.
At the end of the day though I can't honestly fault players 100% on this, because the game itself doesn't really go far enough, in my honest opinion, to explain what the heck the player should be doing in these quests. Its like it drops little hints here and there. you may do what it asks, but it doesn't always stick with you, because its not really impressed upon you this is what you should be doing on this class/job. Its enough for a lot of players, esp MMO vets, but its not enough for lots of players completely new to MMOs.
Forgot to add, I got my dad into this game, hes in his 50s, so you would imagine it could be a little difficult for him to pickup on things. But hes a gamer sense he was a kid, just like us, so he has the mental capacity etc. Plus he plays many other games. Anyhow a perfect example of the game failing to fully educate a player was this. My dad was struggling to defeat the lv 30 war quest, the one where you fight Kujata. I go over to his house, and I notice several things. One he was wildly using his melee actions, without any order. Even tho he read near the start of the game about combos, it didn't stick with him. Also he hadn't done any dungeons somehow, so he didn't have any other players trying to explain to him hey dude your doing something wrong. Also he didn't even realize the healer(forgot the name) was actually there and was trying to heal him. He didn't know the importance. And so he either would be fighting too far from her, or he fought with the boss in a position that allowed her to get hit by every AoE.
I sat him down and played with him a bit. I had my like lv 25 ARC i barely touched, and followed him around and we fought lots of mobs and I taught him a lot of the important things. Like how to use overpower to gather ALL of the mobs. and How to do deal with mobs that pull away and go after healer. Taught him to use the defense skills he had, to make it easier on healers, all that. And what was fantastic, is after about a hour of teaching him the basics. He went into that class quest and just bull dozed over that boss. It was so effortless for him it amazed me.
So really for a lot of these types of players, the game just doesn't do enough to really "teach", it has a little active help thing you read and if it sticks great, if not you got tanks in DF that don't know how to do stuff on their class. The game really needs better ways to teach people to do things. There's quests on WAR early, that requires you to use this skill or that skill to destroy a rock. They should of improved on that, make it where you can only destroy these rocks if you use a combo, or have a certain buff on, or something. idk. All class quests should include something on how combos work, or for things like WHM it teaches you about your curing buffs you get for casting free Cure IIs or reduced cost Cure IIIs. Like cure X person with a enhanced cure II and cure III or something.
Sorry for the wall of text.
