Tanking Titan HM
Hi all - I'm getting ready to finish my relic chain for PLD. I'll be getting the myth chest tonight, and will wear the hoplite head. The rest of my gear is all Darklight and I'm using a HQ Mailbreaker (I also have Ifrit's). Do you think this will be sufficient to beat Titan? This is only my 2nd relic (following my Artemis on bard). I remember it taking me upwards of 30 tries to complete Titan on bard -- any hints/tips to tank him would be great! I know the rotations and to save cool downs for before mountain buster -- though not sure how to know for sure when mountain buster is coming up >.> <.< And also any input on the gear I'll be trying to beat him with ^^ Thanks!

After the heart shatters, Mountain Buster comes after every landslide. I'm not sure on the exact PLD rotation for CDs, still working on my own rotation for War :D

You're more than geared for the fight. Titan HM doesn't even require full DL and TBH there's not much you need to worry about as a Tank.
Just remember to pop CD AND flash for every MB (which comes after every Landslide). Flash is important for the blind debuff and you healers will be happy when you completely dodge a MB.
If you can safely do it (that is without messing up Titan's positioning), try to avoid bombs but it's still fine to take the hit.
There are spots where you don't get hit by bombs at all but it's risky since it's a small sweet spot and you'll take damage from 2 bombs if you mess up. Don't try it, it's not worth it.
Really Titan is a Healer/DPS's fight and there's not much you can do as a tank beside standing in one spot and managing your CD for MB.
I hate that fight as a tank because of that... It's really frustrating just standing there while seeing the rest of the party drop like flies from aoe's and not being able to do anything about it...

Aye, don't lose threat. Don't move him awkwardly. "Try" to avoid bombs if possible. Rotate CD's as best as you can.
As a tank(Pld) there really isn't much to the fight but it is very intimidating tanking it for the first time especially ifyou're used to how difficult (sorta) it is as every other class.

Yea it's really much easier to tank than to DPS or Heal. I try to dodge the bombs to help healers, probably not as big of a deal for PLD since shield oath will reduce that damage, but they are easy enough to avoid (and probably should be depending on how derpy the DPS is).

Yes, agree with Shinkyo. The hard part won't be the tanking but finding a group of DPS who can dodge and heals that will top you off before each MB. Your gear is fine. I did it with full DL and the green lvl55 GC sword (the RNG apparently hating me despite well over 50 Ifrit/Garud runs).

Take it from a healer and a tank. Don't sacrafice Agro for dodging a bomb or something. Take the hit. Better than losing agro because even with your HQ Mailbreaker if you've got some strong dps or an over zealous healer there's a chance you're going to struggle for agro.

Paladin was the easiest to get relic for me. Save Sentinels/Hallowed Ground for when you have to eat one bomb (pop it right before the bomb explodes will give you enough time to last through Mountain Buster). Like others have said, use Flash to blind him (good to use as Rock Buster hits preferably cause duration isn't very long).
I'll be on this weekend if you need my help.

Also remember that if too many people die in the last phase, you will also have to dodge plumes, so don't zone out (and you probably will start zoning out after enough runs).
Good luck!

I always tank him in the upper NW corner, but you can go anywhere. If you have your foot on the edge the bombs around the outside circle, and all others are completely dodgeable. Just split the diff between them, and be sure your backed all the way to the edge, and you should be far enough away. Also if you have WHM's dropping Medica 2 after Geocrush pull him back to your tanking position with Voke every time if its up, and shield lob. Mountain buster is when the real work begins for a tank in this fight. Otherwise you just sit back and pray everyone can dodge. I always use Sentinel for the first, and then Rampart, then Foresight, then normally have to hit rampart again cause sentinel isn't up. I try to save hallowed ground for an OH NOES just before a table flip if I'm low. Bombs are trivial if you find a good spot.
And pay special attention to aggroing the heart itself for that phase, he seems to be especially healer hungry in my groups at this time.
