Crowd funding for new features

At the moment every patch brings out new features. Which is great.
Certain features or classes will most likely not be brought out, as they are maybe not as populair than other features.

I.e. pvp isnt as populair as pve, so more pve content will be brought out.

What if you create the option to let us, the gamers sponsor these "not too populair" new features.

Things that come to mind are:
- more pvp content
- better looking pvp armor
- npc item trading 1 hour timers, in which u can undo i.e. your myth item purchase
- more customisation options

You could set goals i.e. 10.000 dollar/euro to have 1 new race implemented etc.
If 15.000 2 new races etc etc... these features are nice, but not so nice that they are high on the priority list, but does give the gamers some option to help form the game.

Square Enix has plenty of money, even in this terrible economy. The reason they dont want to see "unpopular" things implemented has the same reason it has for everyday players. It will either unbalance things, will be a waste of developer time better spend elsewhere, will not be an improvement to the game or it will even make people leave.

In your example, why does time need to be spend glorifying PvP when only a handfull of people play it in this game (it's terrible and deserves no further attention) when that same time could be spend making new dungeons and designing gear for it? New races also wouldnt make sense lore wise just comming out of the blue.

Lets face it, if it's a good suggestion that's being made, SE will pick up on it regardless. If it's a bad suggestion, no amount of money between heaven and earth will be able to move SE into implementing it. They already ruined this game once before, they're surely going to be careful this time around.

The primary issue the game is having at the moment is one of design. Right now the game can be played through in about a month and a half on average and there is little to stick around for besides challenge modes. Players can build their character, but outside that they can't really build or do anything but run the same content over and over. I suggested the idea of having bosses have a play-set of strategies they can randomly pick from, as well as procedural generation for some dungeons (Think alternate worlds like Dynamis or Promethia, only have it change itself up every time one enters). We have the technology to pull this kind of stuff off and it can work in Final Fantasy XIV ARR, it's just a matter of having someone actually pitch the idea and get it some traction.

This game works fine as a single player game where others jump in to assist during the first run to 50 and the main story, but it does remind me a bit of what Star Citizen is doing, where there is a main campaign and then there is a sandbox world. Right now they need to flesh out a dynamic world that players will want to live and breath, which they've started doing by adding the housing and furniture.

also another problem they have is that when the 2.1 patch came out they failed to realize how many people in an effort to make money turned to one of the few places they can make money which is the market place. Which caused massive price drops the hardest hit were the "Legacy worlds" and the nonlegacy players who joined that server to play with their friends who were legacy. I think they need to come up with new ways in which to decide prices on the new things that come out because all the new system does is push players who are impatient or tired of working hard to make money only to realize it would take even a small group of players a while to raise the cash. What they should do for the player housing is announce a rough estimate of what the prices for the houses might be watch the markets on each world and the FC's and see how each economy reacts and adjust the prices accordingly. so that new content makes the game more enjoyable for all not just some like has been my experience.

The economy is doing just fine. When they first launched the game there were supply shortages of certain materials that were needed for mid tier crafting due to drop rates, and by the time they could get around to try and fix it RMT was already exploiting it. They had to add the beastmen suppliers and increase the drop rates dramatically in order to both better supply mid tier crafting and combat the RMT insanity.

The bigger issue is the lack of attention to crafting and gathering in general. Playing a game should be about the journey, and right now crafting and gathering is almost exclusively about the result since there's no content to level with outside of repeatable leves and the few class quests available. Even the results of crafting are kind of questionable, as the iLvL system makes gauging the power of HQ and materia equipped gear vs higher level gear from end game dungeons and encounters difficult.

Also, they really should have more dungeons where loot can be sold on the open market. Dark hold is one of my favorite places to run because of the well designed movement based fights, salable items, and aesthetics. In fact, Stone Vigil, Cutters Cry, and Darkhold are the three dungeons I enjoy the most out of the game. The end game dungeons are falling into the meat grinder trap that plagues the entire genre.
