How does distance affect Bard damage?

As the title says, in PvP, the distance the bard is from the enemy affects the amount of damage they do, but how? I have heard conflicting arguments that bards do MORE damage when close to the enemy than far away. Other folks say that it's the opposite and bards do LESS damage when close to the enemy than being far away. Does anyone have a source or data to support which one is true? Thanks in advance.

if you think about how small that arena is.....it is probably negligible and hard to actually notice. I hardly doubt it is coded in 1 Y increment's and damage decreased like we may imagine it is.
