Tank as a secondary, equipment questions

Hey all,
I have a few quick questions about tank equipment as a secondary main.
I was wondering what is the best method for getting equipment? I'm near the end of the story with my blm main but I picked up the gld after watching some vids about tanking tactics. Problem is I used up all the side quests as the blm so getting equip that way isn't a option. I have run satasha a few times to get better stuff but I'm lvling up too fast. I was thinking of doing haitali but I'm not sure having lower lvl equip for that dungeon is a good idea. Would you recommend making armor or just buying it? This includes rings necklaces the other stuff that isn't the main suit of armor. I plan on running dungeons to get better stuff but I want to even out what I don't find.

Personally I go to the market spend a few hundred gil on each piece. Apart from legs for some reason they are always thousands. That plus the loot from running each dungeon 2 maybe 3 times plus getting the class quest gear every 5 levels is good enough for me. Plus you can recoup some gil converting and selling your materia.

For my alt classes I gear up using Company Seals.

Buying cheap gear is all that's needed as a tank pre-45. Just try to stay close to ilvl with the dungeon, and for armors, look for tank only gear (gld, mrd, pld, war) not disciple of war or anything that also says lnc, drg. That's about it... Doesn't even need to be hq, nq is just fine. For accessories, I recommend str until 50 just to make it easier to keep hate off healers.

Tanking low levels is more about holding hate on multiple mobs off the healers, because at that level, dps can survive even if they rip hate as long as the healer is alive. Under 50, heal spells are really over powered, so you don't really need massive HP. All that matters is defense and str... IMO

personally, I lvld my pld just keeping 'up-to-date' GC equipment, and filling in here and there with dungeon loot, and leftover storyline accessories from my war.. think I only bought equipment from market just as a starter, got lucky finding cheap lvl 15 16 17 dungeon set
