What's up with Atomos and the Grumpy Guts (Crystal Tower)

Anyone else notice this?

Seems like every CT I've done (well, ones where the Atomos fight goes wrong) seems to spark the most aggrivated debates.

In fact, I find it ironic that one of two fights that REQUIRES the teamwork is the fight that people have turned into a race. (Technically all the fights encourage teamwork, but with an absolutely stellar group, you could pull it together with a single alliance, if you really tried)

Just curious as to what the general populus thinks about the attitude - I had hardly experienced any negativity through anything (sure, people leaving primals after one attempt, but usually it's just a whatever outta here kind of thing), but man this one fight is like a hot potato for people to curse out others.

Standing on a button isn't hard and it is frustrating to see INVULNERABLE up for a very long time.

The only enemy that should be aiming any AOE at the button people are the succubi and they are easily stunned or silenced. Hell you can usually stun them once the tank pulls them closer to the button people and they are dead before it wears off.

I like it when people have no ranged and decide it would be best for the off tank to go tank Atomos, stupidest thing I've ever heard. Lets send the tank in to tank something which cant be tanked and have a DPS sitting on a platform doing nothing!

Though sometimes with this fight I see whole alliances pull together, swapping out members to make things easier if 1 pt has too much ranged and 1 doesn't, that kind of bond is cool. I think a lot of people just don't explain it and assume to much and this causes a lot of grief.

I mean, you're correct. But if I were in this situation, I would assume that the group that is triggering my button is in dire straights. You can still kill the adds, and there's no hard-timer (until a party wipes), so while it's invulerable, you can still kill the pathetically easy adds and not worry about it til it's vulnerable. It's slow, sure, but it gets done. However, that's not what is said. What's said is 'We're first - Omegas' and 'You're TOO SLOW' and '$R"*)"*_! BUTTON STAND ON IT NOW', things like 'TAKE IT LIKE A MAN' in regards to being hit by spells. That's just goofy. Why not lose 15 seconds, to who knows an entire atomos worth of HP just killing adds and eventually get it done.

This fight in particular just seems to bring out the absolute worst in patience.

Atomos - Proving just how many people haven't done anything other than zerg their way to victory in 99% of ARR. I mean...stand on a button.

Kill Adds.
DPS Atomos.

Yet it seems to be the most impossible boss fight to ever be conceived by a Game Developer with some people. Of course people will be grumps because it's a boss fight where the main boss just stares at you most of the time and it's literally: Triangle Block goes into Triangle hole - Good, gold star for you!" concept.

I find that people still treat it like a Zerg, in fact, it is -the- definition of a Zerg fight. I'd personally say, run CT 5 or 6 times, count how many times somebody says 'Alliance X/Y/Z was first' on any particular fight/boss, I bet Atomos is above 3. What gets me is an AoE gets put on the platform (shit happens) and people get out of the fire(red), suddenly you get an alliance of 'STAND ON THE BUTTON'. NEvermind dodging.

Yeah, if it's a Dria add and you have a SCH or Brd, they can silence the AoEs which I see almost none attempt to do sadly :\

my personal favorite run was when we had two blm there and the other decides hes going to go help the two melee dps kill atomos and leaves me on the platform with the healers and a warrior. Other tank couldnt keep all the adds away from the pad and we wiped to aoe. Brilliant plan.

I always find it funny when people say this. The atomos fight alone requires a minimum of 12 people on the platforms. This is more than a single group of 8. Even some of the boss encounters require more than 8. Behemoth comes to mind on that one. The bosses without mechanics? Sure that could be done with a team of 8, but the mechanics of the dungeon absolutely require more than a team of 8. So even "if you really tried" you'd find it impossible because you simply don't have enough people to pass certain mechanics. People need to really stop suggesting this is possible because it is clearly not.

I just had a CT run where alliance C wiped really fast in Atomos some how. Then second time their blm was being a total retard and kept running off for no reason causing ours to go invul. I can understand if there's an AoE on the button but for no fucking reason?
