Ok so whats peoples thoughts on this.
If we had some of the mobs on the field broken down into targetable parts with HP (legs, arms, torso etc). Pounding on these individual parts causing weakening to the others but have the head as what need to be defeated to actually kill the mob.
This could play like so:
Solo player attacks a even match mob the solo player doesn't go straight for the head because it is too tough (large amount of HP or Nasty retalitory attack etc). The Solo player then proceeds to take out arms and legs etc gaining a small amount of exp for each and causing detrimental effects to the head and/or other body parts. Then of cause takes on the head for the kill.
A party at even match or above should be able to take the head out with out taking out limbs and would gain no exp from taking limbs out.
A party where the mob is tough will need to take the limbs out like with the solo player and would gain exp from each limb.
This would take careful balancing as with any combat mechanic but it should be doable by managing the HP and retalitory attacks and bonus based on player rank vs monsters.
This could also open up other tatics like preventing a Mob from fleeing by taking its legs or wings out rendering it immobile. Drops could be placed on certain parts and the most desirable drops could be placed on parts that could be harder to take out than the head so killing a mob quick for drops might not always be your goal.
