Warrior or Dragoon?

I'm trying to decide which of these two classes I should make my main in PvP. What I'm looking for specifically is the capability to take down my target quickly via damage output and target control (unable to escape).

My understanding is that both classes have high damage output but warrior has the holmgang root and a stun while the dragoon has a stun plus jumps. The downside to warrior is that the burst only gets one shot due to cooldowns while dragoon can burst repeatedly.

Am I missing anything? Thoughts/theories are welcome.

A Warrior is by default, tankier than a DRG with lower but respectable burst damage and a grip to lock down their target. Warriors also have better utility: Healing Debuff (which can stack with SMN's Healing Debuff) and better defensive CDs. The DRG has higher mobility with less defense but more on-demand burst damage with only 2 very short stuns to help get their damage in. In terms of raw utility, the DRG is lacking in comparison. This is the core difference between the two classes.

Uhh I wouldn't call DRG burst good by any stretch.

Also with Leg Sweep currently failing 90% of the time, I wouldn't say DRG have any reliable stuns either except for Spineshatter which is on a 90s cooldown.

Dragoon PvP

If you like dealing sexy burst damage / having high mobility I'd go with dragoon. It was a slow start but once I got a few PvP skills things turned around a lot. I've tried warrior/marauder a bit and I feel slow and clunky and a bit more like a one trick pony with Holmgang. Dragoons feel more versitile wit minor CC (Feint and Stuns), High Damage/burst, High mobility and decent defense.

Dragoon all the way.

Na, DRG burst totally sucks. Buff DRGs

Dragoons can also be immune to status affliction for 5 seconds.

They can also regen tp twice pretty easily.

And the correct comparison, imo, would be DRG against MRD not WAR.

Monks, Paladins and Warriors don't have the same problem? Stop asking to be spoiled.

if you are PVPing, you shouldn't do it as a WAR anyway. Go MRD, and use your 10 cross class abilities.

Glyx, the last thing SE wanna do is balance jobs around solo queues. It's in premades that you can see which job needs to be adjusted.
