Hello guys, this thread to discuss and think about gods in FFXIV. I'm not sure about the importance of the gods "The Twelve" in the game but I'd like to see that they have a great story and use within the game. As you know that beastmen have their gods such as leviathan. We on the contrary, have our own gods as we such as Thalik. Here is the list of what I'd like to see about gods:

- Gods' Temples:
Each god has his own temple with its unique design. These temples look sacred and holy, does not look as if they are only guilds. Temples implemented with the god's sigh, element and worshipers.

- Access to temple:
Each temple requires you to do some quest to prove that you are worthy to have the blessing (getting access to the temple).

- God's blessing:
Players have to gain the god's blessing by worshipping the god doing quests. These quests are only available for the god's follower only. If you choose Thalik then you can only do Thalik's quest only. Each quest makes you closer to god and improves your relationship with him.

- The God's reward:
Gaining the god's favor will get you rewarded with:
1- Unique skills that's god related for example your god is Halona the fury then the skill will improve your damage or similar.
2- Unique equipments that's god related. If your goddess is Nymeia the spinner then these equipments will grant you more luck and more resistant to water element and they might also have the god's sing.
3- maybe something else.


Anyway these are some idea about the gods within the game. So feel free guys to write what do you think?

I would love to see more development with this aspect of FF14. ^^

I would definitely like to see the Twelve Gods and Goddesses play a bigger part in FFXIV's lore and gameplay! We all chose a guardian deity upon character creation. I specifically chose Menphina for a reason, not just at random, and I'd like to explore that further in the game.

Regarding the Twelve Gods, there are so many ideas, but i know SE is not taking care of them.

1) every God has a temple/instance and you must finish all 12 to unlock the thirteen God.
2) Saint Seya style: the 12 houses raid.
3) the 12 gods are avatars/eons to defeat before you can summon them

Fair enough have ideas, but none of these really fit with the game. Back before the game got released, we were told by Tanaka the gods would have a big impact later in the story and there'd be some kind of twist. The theme song talks about gods and sacrifice, I wouldn't be surprised if the gods weren't such great guys and girls.

I really thought this was going to be another "All hail Tanaka-sama!" thread. Glad it's not. Good ideas and input. At least the NPCs mention the gods in their dialogue, so it appears to be part of their everyday lives.

Well, the climax of the hatchingtide suggested that the concept of the archons, living personifications of the twelve, may still yet come. So we could see something there, possibly when the foretold "doomsday" strikes.

I also recall the devs earlier on mentioning that they were planning on allowing us to change our guardian deity in the future, once there were things in the game that made them relevant - another hint?

It would be pretty cool to see more come out of the choice of a guardian deity or whatever they are called. lol Even though they said they wanted to add more in the future, +1 to these ideas!
