WHM DPS out of hand?

Doing some WP runs, with a parser on, and having our WHM out dps a BLM with 1k+ DPS seems a bit wrong. WHM can out aoe dps almost all classes, as a healer is definitely questionable.

SCH isn't even in the same ballpark compared to this.

It's only in AoE circumstances when enemies have low health. Their single target damage is miserable and spamming Holy will drain their MP quickly.

WHM DPS is still pretty alright, but come Holy it's pretty high. Holy was pretty much the 2nd best AoE around (and may still be in terms of potency?); it's just that it's a burst and nothing more. The MP drain on it is ridiculous even if you get Shroud of Saints on.

It may be 'out of hand' but remember in about 5 casts you've pretty much depleted half of your MP. Where as a BLM can just umbral ice and right back up.

WHM's have burst AoE with holy, also costs a ton of MP. SCH / SMN AoE is very good sustained dps for very little MP cost. Typically on a pull of 3 mobs my SCH will have the 3rd mob half dead by the time the dps is finished with the first 2 mobs.

Misleading title sir, perhaps 'WHM DPS out of hand on massive packs of mobs with low HP and mana breaks everywhere' would be more appropriate?

Honestly though, I'm not even sure if you are a troll, a bit dim or just plain butthurt because a group wanted a whm over you.

Whm DPS isn't even close to being 'out of hand', our already rather mundane single target damage took a hit with the loss of thunder whilst holy's potency was nerfed less than a week ago. I've done many a WP filling in for a DPS slot on speed runs as well as a multitude as healer whilst sneaking in a good bit of damage too. The less damage the group does, the more I can dish out. If the blm drops the ball on a pack then sure, I can put in some crazy numbers out of the parser, problem is that my damage falls off massively on the bosses themselves especially when the jelly boss dies before it's second round of adds. Parse that whm across the entire run and see if they are still pushing 1k dps, you'll likely find it's going to be more around 250 to 300dps which isn't really 'out of hand' right?

*edit* oh and just to add, please note that AE damage gets blown monumentally out of proportion on the King as AEs continue to hit and register damage against the dead Tonberrys for quite a few seconds whilst they get absorbed for grudge.

Im sch 50 on my alt char healin coil, and my whm is only 36.

But whm has a good aoe boost and sch has a nice single target dps, and decent aoe when dots gets spread?

I dont know the numbers, but sounds kinda fair to me, class balance Hehe.

On a sidenote: i get all warm'n fuzzy inside when teaming up whit a whm :)

It seems to me that Whm burst aoe is overpowered, if you have the mana. That doesn't seem like a problem to me. I'm very hopeful SE doesn't go overboard trying to make everything perfectly balanced - IMO that's a great recipe for homogony, which is boring, and one of the things I disliked about WoW.
