Deciphering the loot calculation for maps - Please read

I've only done a handful of maps and I'm trying to figure things out.

It's well known that maps evenly split loot around the party, however... The very first map I did after coil with a group of 8 people. PURELY going off of the mythology tokens, we got 15x8 mythology tokens for a total of 120. During another map, two other friends and myself did a map and got only 5 mythology tokens each for a total of 15 mythology tokens. That being said, if our group had been EIGHT people, we would have averaged at 2-3 mythology tokens each, this doesn't even make sense.

So this leaves me wondering if perhaps MORE people means MORE loot drops and splits it evenly regardless. With less people, less loot drops.

If anyone could confirm some of their data, I'd appreciate it.

We did some tests in our FC.

A Peisteskin map in a party of 4 people gace each one 1962g and 5 Myths, random mats and a chinchilla hide
That same map type with 8 people gave the same reward, 1962g and Myths to everyone,the same amount of random materials and also a chinchilla hide.
The last peisteskin map we used wich (lucky us) was in the exact same spot than the first one and summoned the same monster gave us 5280g and 15 myths to everyone.

Conclusion: Bring as many ppl as you can since it just generates more money and Myths. Same maps in same location with the same monsters can give vastly different rewards.

I usually do the 8man Peisteskin maps with 3 people and our chocobros. Everytime I've gotten a rare mat(chinchilla skin/lense/whatever else) and sometimes also 8x philo mats that are bundled into 1 roll for 1 person. Usually get a boatload of shards and other lesser crafting mats that are auto-distributed without rolls.

I did the 8man maps a few times with a full group of 8. We got no rare mats, no philo mats, and very minimal amount of other auto-dist loot. One of the maps was the same as one I did earlier in the day with my 3man group.

Conclusion: RNG gonna RNG most likely.
