Legacy or Company - Which is my trusty steed?!

According to the Legacy Chocobo:

Now, for those of us with both, shouldn't these be one-and-the-same?

Five years ago, we received our chocobo from our grand company, and have been able to summon him from the start of 2.0, before re-joining a grand company.

It's very... odd... to me to see that my chocobo from five years past isn't the one battling with me, and the other has the name that I gave my chocobo back in 1.0.

In lieu of lore, I have some suggested solutions:
1) Remove Legacy Chocobo and supply us with Legacy Barding for our companion.
2) Allow Legacy Chocobo to be used as a companion.

While I prefer #2, I don't care which way it goes; I just want to fight with my buddy. :(

I've always wondered why they didn't just add a Legacy Barding for existing chocobos. It would have made a lot more sense than an entirely different mount.

Either case, in canon, they are one and the same. Leon is just wearing battle gear when summoned with Greens.

Probably because not all of us Legacy players actually joined a Grand Company in 1.0 (I didn't). So they were trying to keep all their eggs in one basket so too speak and just handwaved it away that it was the player's personal stead before the Calamity, not necessarily a Grand Company-issued one.

But the only chocobo that you could attain in 1.0 was the grand company-issued one; and that's the point. All other chocobos were exclusive to Ishgard (as we learned when they were first released).

You make a good point that there were legacy players who received the legacy chocobo whistle without having joined a grand company in 1.0, and even that doesn't make sense since you had to have joined a grand company in order to get one.

But for those of us who did get our choco in v1, they really should have just made our buddy the legacy and cut out the second one. Then the ppl who never played far enough to get a choco should have just had to work the story line and get one like the new players imo

What is really upsetting about mounts is the fact that they are reintroducing goobbue mounts when they promised those to be v1 exclusive. Idc if they have a wreath instead of weeds on their head, its the whole point of them completely backtracking on what they said

I completely agree, and this lines up with my 2nd suggestion; however, that would have trouble fitting in with the lore of no one knowing who we are, so my suggestion simply allows them to coexist (or to have our legacy be companion and company chocobo simply a normal mount).
