Whats the point of crafting now?

I stopped crafting 2 star after half my Linkshell got banned for hitting the gil cap, when I look at the prices for tomb mats now, and the prices of 2 star gear, it is clearly evident that crafting for money is useless now. Unless you find a buyer before you even make the item, chances are that item won't sell now, since the new Ilvl 80 gear was released, and darklight is a joke to get now.

So my question it, what is the point of crafting now?

Since you get the ilevel80 items randomly and only once a week, i70 crafted is still more viable. As for darklight, sure we earn more philosophy now but they can also tip a crafter to have the items made if they want or sell the philosophy items to buy the crafted. They're way better than Darklight if you meld them right. idk about your server but my 2-star has been moving much faster than before.

Darklight is enough to do coils, and the Ilvl 80 gear makes it even more doable. In order for 2star to be better than darklight you need to meld materia as well, this is just a cost that is still not worth the marginal gains for the average player (especially since Ilvl 90 myth gear is also easier to get). I don't know what it's like on your server, but the net profit from making 2 star right now is about 10k if you do it on the market, and even that comes with problems due to the massive amount of gear flooding the market, and no one buying it. Right now there are 15 gryphonskin rings up, all by different retainers, all undercutting eachother to the ground.

Finding customers is the hardest part of 2star crafting now, it was difficult before, but now it is even worse.

You forget one thing: the DL robe for BLM is fugly, while the lvl 70 dress is amazing. And meldable. Who wants to go around looking like a monk. I am going to buy it indeed. ^_^

Crafting isn't about actually being a crafter and dedicating yourself to the class, it's about being a merchant and playing the market. Everything is so easy to HQ that the actual process of crafting is basically just going through the motions before you play merchant. Just being able to HQ something isn't enough since just about anybody with more than an ounce of preparation can HQ it too.

My WVR has 362 standing Control since I had nothing better to do than continue melding everything. The generally accepted amount to aim for to HQ 2 stars from NQ mats is 340, nevermind how much lower you could be if you started with HQ mats.

And every single craft that the patch added is easier than the 2 star crafts that we've had since launch, making it even easier for the market to be flooded. At least there's technically a use for Piece by Piece now due to Furniture being pure Craftsmanship, lol. Too bad next to nobody will be buying a house anytime soon due to the up front cost and thus the furniture market being dead on arrival.

I leveled crafting to avoid the dungeons. Now that they are all 50 there isn't much for me to do. Rearrange my retainer inventory, again.
