The PvP Thread

Since we have no PvP forums, this thread will be dedicated to just about everything PvP. Here we can discuss comps, strats, gear, players or whatever you want - even if it's about a comp or class that's underpowered or overpowered.

I'll start off

Class: Dragoon
Comp(s): DRG / SMN and DRG / BRD (Both use a PLD and WHM)

How do you like the PvP?
It's no MLG PvP but it's fun with a few inbalances here and there.

What's your favorite comp?
SMN / DRG

What's your least favorite matchup?
SMN / SMN

How do you think your class is performing?
Solid

What class(es) do you think is overboard or underpowered?
Summoners will need to be tuned down in the future. Too much utility piled into one class. Monks are probably late bloomers but I feel they are easier to kite than most of the other classes. Black Mages, I feel, will need to be buffed and Sleep in general can use a tone down but it's not as bad as a lot of people think.

Does the gear scale well with Morale (i55 / i70 / i90) vs PvE Gear?
I can't answer this till more time has passed.

How do you like the PvP?
Wasting too much time in it. It's fun.

What's your favorite comp?
ME + ME

What's your least favorite matchup?
SMN / SMN

How do you think your class is performing?
Solid

What class(es) do you think is overboard or underpowered?
SMN needs to lose the insta rez. Too much power for one character. Add a 2nd SMN, and it's a nightmare.

Does the gear scale well with Morale (i55 / i70 / i90) vs PvE Gear?

Comps: MNK/BRD or MNK/SMN

How do you like the PvP?
I think it is pretty fun, which is saying something given how unbalanced some of the aspects are.

MNK/SMN



What's your least favorite matchup?
SMN/SMN



How do you think your class is performing?
Underpar, I don't think it's terrible but I think it's the least powerful class in PvP right now against good players that know how to CC properly.



What class(es) do you think is overpowered or underpowered?
Summoners need a nerf, I would take away their ability to swiftcast raise, and lessen the healing debuff on summoners and warriors to 25% from 50%. 50% Is far too high for a healing debuff. I feel monk is the worst class PvPwise right now. They have the least mobility even out of the melee classes, and they are more of a sustained damage class than a burst class, and PvP is all about burst. That being said, they still do pretty good damage when they can be on a target, but it requires a lot of setup if you do not have perfect balance up. I believe some CCs such as sleep are too long. I think mages should be able to cast spells when getting attacked and each class should get an interrupt skill specifically to interrupt casts.



What's your thoughts on PvP?
I'm curious to see if the metagame changes when people get rank 30 and all their PvP skills. Perhaps monks will be a bit stronger at that time, and perhaps classes will have more tools to deal with SMN.

There's also talk about the 2m~ timer before a match starts. I think it's a bit overboard, as some matches last for less than 40s sometimes.

It's fun, proper prioritizing allows your team to succeed.

How do you think your class is performing?Great, plenty of moves to close the cap and damage pushes enemies into panic mode.


What class(es) do you think is overpowered or underpowered?
I hear SMN is overpowered if played properly. Underpowered I think MNK does great damage but as the fights go on they can fall behind a bit.


What's your thoughts on PvP?
I like it so far, the fights seem to either go really fast or at a med-long pace which is okay. I would like for it to feel like you have more time to show off your skills though.

I use it to check my email and find out who is playing on the other side. Hard to see all the way over there sometimes.

Okay at best.

Good

Arcanist is a tad overboard.
No class right now is underpowered.

My thoughts?
Not really sure yet. Right now I have a mixed bag of opinions, but PvP in general isn't that bad.

gave PvP a shot last night. Just not for me. It's was alright, waiting 20 minutes as a dps for a 3 minute fight is kinda lame. Also, with out a ranking system, putting me into my first fight with people already in pvp gear with a few pvp spells was a little ridiculous. But it was ok, just not for me.

I don't think Matchmaking will come for a long time. Seems the mode itself is based on more of a side-game rather than being any innovative.
