Seeing how easy it is to simply throw in boss fights...why not? I'm pretty sure they have it planned somewhere down the line.

I really hope so. Rivenroad was one of the more interesting battlefields in the game, and it would be nice to see Dalamud again. Gaius really didn't do the music justice either, even if he could only muster a vocal-less version.
I believe it was stated that Darnus was dead and was never coming back no matter what. But meh, who knows.
Um, the whole concept of the Minstrel is that he's singing about a battle in the past. It's a weird paradox, but the battle with Ultima Weapon we have now isn't actually taking place in the present, but is a representation of what the Minstrel thought happened in the original story mode battle. It's a bombastic retelling of history, brought to life in the present through song and we are a part of it. Thus any battle in FFXIVs past could theoretically be revived this way.
Would kind of contradict the "Once in a lifetime" event they advertised. I think sometimes certain things are better off as memories. Makes them more "memorable" after the game is done and gone.
i actually think that this would be a neat idea, sure darnus is dead, but there's nothing stopping the minstrel from singing about it, like he does with ultima weapon apperently
the once in a life time event would probably just be fighting him in 1.0, but it since we're fighting him in 2.0 with a revamped combat system, nael's fight would probably be completely different compared to how it was before
how about just have the Minstrel sing the Ballad of the Darklight Raiders and have us take on the Chimera that wiped them all out?
Well there are endless possibilities when you have the power of...
