Allow Name Changing

Being able to rename a character would be nice. For example:

I have 2 service accounts. One is my old Beta 2.0(account #2), one that is my current active (account #1). The Beta is inactive but it still shows my character. I have friends that are on the server #2's character belongs to. The characters on #1 and #2 are named the same. Therefore, it will not let me transfer my character from my current server to the server #2 is on without renaming my active character. I do not want to rename my character, I like my name.

I want to delete and cancel the #2 account and character or rename the no longer needed character so I can transfer. I contacted support and they said they have no means to rename characters. How is this so, if we can rename characters on a server transfer? I would have deleted this character had I known this would happen. But then the beta testing ended, I no longer had access to the account to do so.
