Wolves' Den
So, what do you think so far? I actually had a lot of fun with it for 4-5 runs until I was told not to come back until I had full darklight and relic. Just a heads up for newer WHMs, don't go yet! (Grumble, grumble...) But when I did play, it seemed really neat. I spent the first part of the fight kiting their team and regen-ing players, since it's instant cast. You can esuna sleep on your team from peeking around a wall when your followers get distracted (slept/stunned/whatever). (Then run fast - they'll come after you!) As we took down some of their team members, I could step in and do some sleeps and switch to Cleric's Mode to do some damage from a distance. Can't wait until I'm geared enough to do this again!

Form a team with 2 BLM, a PLD and WHM. sprint rush the enemy team, and Swiftcast sleep with the BLM's on 3/4 enemies. 1v4 the remaining sucker using stone I or blizzard to slow them down with the tank stunning. rotate sleeps with the blm's and continue to 1/4 until people are becoming immune to sleep. Spam holy to lock enemies down for 6 seconds(3 straight casts of holy). Proceed to reuse fully potent sleep again. Seriously... pvp isn't fun at all until they nerf the hell out of sleep, which probably won't take long.

Why would you stop if you're enjoying it? It sounds like you're doing great! Keep it up and have fun. Don't listen to the dummies.
-
lol gear wise, yeah people will be elitist like that, I can only suggest going with a group of friends.
-
I agree. Pvpers do tend to be elitist, but here's an example why you shouldn't listen: I'm currently in full DL with Hero's x2 and Relic+1. Yet due to my skill level I don't last very long. Whereas you have been having fun winning and tearing it up in less gear than I. Keep doing it and stop listening to others. Hats off to you! Make sure to write back with some strategies because I am lacking them atm rofl!

Only thing I don't enjoy is that healers literally have no chance in PvP. They can be stun locked, silenced and ANY damage they take interrupts their casts. Makes it damn near impossible to heal anything other than using your instant cast healing (very limited) as you are out running 3/4 of their team. Other than that, I think some of the classes need to be tweaked. Sleep locks are in need of a nerf. I don't think they should take it out completely, but a 30 sec start CC = instant loss, recast to a 15 sec CC if needed lol.

You pretty much have to get your butt handed to you until you reach enough points to buy Equanimity, which allows you to cast uninterrupted for 10 sec. Spec'ing more into that gives you more time and shorter cool down.
Another action to buy is the one that removes all negative effects. Forgot the name of it but works just like the PvP trinket in WoW.
All in all, I actually like PvP. It just takes a bit of time to acquire the spells that will make you viable.
-
I have Equanimity lol stage 1 at least, even then, 10 secs is not enough to survive stun locks with a 3v1 lol gives you like 3 casts.
-
hey NR i see you are a SMN,
if you have 3 dps on you you should not cast damage, you should CC, i recommend to SC > tri disaster, and running away , if they catch up again do miasma 2..
save equaminity for when you know diminishing returns have taken over and dot all the things!!
since most pvpers in ffxiv are new to pvp they suffer of what we like to call tunnel vision. tunnel vision players are a wonderful gift from the gods if you know when there is one in the other team.

They defiantly should not have made casts interruptable, especially with just plain old white dmg. >_<
Unless the spell specifically says it interrupts casting, any dmg done should just be push back
