Applying an ability effect at the same time as the effect fades = No Effect

When casting an ability effect on an ally or enemy at the exact time as the effect fades off that ally or enemy, the effect will say No Effect and not apply causing you to have to recast it.

This seems to affect all abilities ranging from various DoTs to buffs and heals like Regen. I have personally noticed it most frequently happening on white mage debuffs / regen / dots because I play a white mage.

This is most easily seen when trying to spam Holy. The first holy stun will go off, and the second stun happens (for my cast time of holy wearing full darklight and a standard white mage relic weapon) to be timed exactly such that if you try just spamming holy it will say No Effect always for the second stun, but if you wait a half-second before casting the second Holy the second stun will apply properly.

This bug can definitely be detrimental if you are unlucky enough to have an important cast not apply, and affects the DPS of anyone who uses DoTs and accidentally re-applies them too perfectly, and for me is a reason why I wouldn't choose a DoT based caster (summoner).

- Have you noticed the effects not reapplying on other jobs besides White Mage?

This can happen to ability effects both placed on players and on enemies, so I don't think there's a particular buff that might be affecting this since you don't buff enemies.

I've only really noticed it on white mage abilities (Regen, Aero, Holy's stun component) because I primarily play a white mage, but I don't think it's really specific to the white mage job.

I've given you all the information necessary to reproduce this bug due to the convenient timing of Holy's cast time coupled with my white mage's spell speed and the stun time of Holy's first cast. Take a look at my white mage character, create a character with the same gear/stats (primarily spell speed) and try spamming holy on a group of enemies (cast a holy and immediately cast another holy by spam clicking the button while the first one is still casting until the second one casts immediately after). The first holy will apply the stun, and the second holy will hit exactly when that stun wears off and not apply the stun and instead say No Effect. Casting Holy again after this bug occurs will cause the stun to apply properly again. You can then see the difference by instead of spamming the second holy waiting another second before casting it again, the stun will apply properly the second time.

I can vouch for this also occurring having seen it myself. I have only noticed this effect happening on dots as well, not direct damaging abilities. I cannot provide an exact example like the above because I've been too focused on trying to regain my ground with quests/etc. I have undoubtedly seen this occur while playing smn/sch and on seeming very rare occasions (once every 500 or so spell casts...) I notice this most often when trying to refresh a dot near it's end duration as mentioned. I have also seen this in another form though and I think the best example I would have is: when trying to use bio I and bane in quick succession leads to bio I not spreading to adjacent targets while Bio II and Miasma do spread to the adjacent targets.

On a side note, I have also had a small problem with Aether flow (acn/smn/sch ability). On rare occasions, I have noticed I do not gain stacks of aether flow upon use and do not regain the mp but the ability will go on cool down. I most notably see this occur while already in combat because of it's large detrimental effect. Sometimes I also see another negative effect (with design in mind) in regards to aether flow stacks; in that the stacks are not removed properly sometimes when using energy drain in quick succession with Bane or Fester leading to getting to use a 4th aether flow stack.

I understand this is a lot but it's been the first chance I've gotten to really report anything, sorry for delays.

As a WHM if the tanks had a healing effect like mantra or convalecence and you put regen on them when you recast regen without thme having the buff you will get the "no effect" notification because you are apliying a weaker version of regen.

No additional healing effects are in place when this happens, just a solo party with me (one white mage) and casting only regen to re-apply just as it fades at the time it happens. Again, this is not only happening for beneficial spells like regen but also detrimental spells like DoTs and stuns. Anything being re-applied at the exact same time as it fades.

As SMN/SCH you notice it a lot with Aetherflow at 50. Cast it, wait until recast timer is up, fire off lustrate twice, wait a second, fire 3rd lustrate and immediately cast aetherflow.
Since you cast aetherflow right after consuming the 3rd it ends up with no buff at all rather than reapplying to 3.

Aetherflow does not get affected by "no effect" on reapply (if you have 1 and recast it gives you 3) and if aetherflow was being applied before the subtraction from lustrate it'd show as 2 rather than having no buff.

For me, at least, I've only seen this kind of thing with instant cast skills or having super horrible (or excellent depending on how you see it ;)) timing when using a buff skill like adloquium (though not as common unless you try to keep it on a person every time it drops).
