Ward improvement suggestion

One thing I find a bit frustrating about the search system is that I often look at the price of the item, but forget to check which wards the item is available in before I exit the item search. I end up having to go back in and check the item a second time to find out what ward to teleport too.

I would like to suggest that when you go to the ward teleport menu, after marking an item for search, there should be a star next to each ward the item is being sold in. Admittedly being an airhead is my own problem not a software development issue, and I am to asking you to save me from myself here. I do think this feature would probably help reduce player frustration with the wards. I doubt I am the only brunette out there who has blond moments.

Overall I find the wards vastly improved from the launch, and I have no problem with not including an auction house in the game as things are now.

Good potential solution to the problem, but if we're going there, we may as well go all they way and enable the ability to buy items directly from the item search itself.

Nice ideas, although i wouldnt vote for buying immediately from the search menu; that would eliminate the interaction with retainers and the physical trade feel of the ward.

I like how everyone searching for an item have the chance to run to the retainers and buy the goods, instead of everyone standing upon an AH. Maybe that's a personal taste.

In the first suggestion, i could add that upon having a list of all items, players get the ability to click on one (say the cheapest) which basically marks that retainer with special star (say yellow colored) instead of red that represents everyone who sells the same item. That's a small addition, but i believe it helps leveraging your main idea.

You mean the physical trade with the retainers that keeps causing the wards to crash? 'Cause I can guarantee that the search menu is a lot less strenuous on the server than the wards themselves are. . .

Its small things like this that add up to vastly improve the game

I don't really want to see the ward concept change. I would like to see it made more user friendly within the current system. Adding in indicators to mark wards where your item is being sold builds on the current system of marking retainers that sell that item.

I think most of us, on some level, would agree that the concept is nice. At this point, though, it's a question of how best to solve the problem of server strain. If they can do that by beefing up the servers or by improving coding or what-have-you, so much the better. It just seems like the simpler solution would be buying from the search menu.

To stop with the derailing, though, I do find myself in this situation more often than I'd like to admit. Of course, even with your idea, there'd be a few situations where it would fall a little short. . .

If you mark all the wards it's sold in, you'd still want to re-search and confirm which ward has the cheapest one. Unless, of course, you're looking for a HQ version of the item, in which case this idea could actually be even more useful. For example, there are usually more than 20 listings of iron nuggets up, pushing the HQ items off of the list. If the wards themselves had stars next to them, you could more easily find the retainers not shown in the search. . .

Overall, I'd say this is a good idea, just one that might (maybe) get superseded by other methods.

I like the physical intereaction of going to the ward the retainer is at and phycially buying from him. My biggest beef about some of these suggestions is how people want to take away some of the things that give FFXIV its charm and want to make it more "cookie-cutter mmo."
