So... here is my question
When you defeat a boss, a treasure chest will appear, and if you receive an item from one of these treasure chests, you will not be able to “Need” or “Greed” again until the weekly reset. (Allagan tomestones of mythology cap reset timing)
Does this mean that a static group or FC going in as a group of 8 can farm this content by just passing to the appropriate person and waiting for the timer to run out or will loot just fall to the ground?
They stated that loot acquired automatically will count towards the week cap.
While I understand this, the restriction is to not loot or greed... so question still remains...
No, it doesnt. You pick the loot up, in any way, and your loot lockout starts. They specifically mentioned this because people asked about exactly what you're asking during the liveletter.
Been wondering this myself, "In the event you are awarded an item from the loot list, you relinquish your right to vie (compete) for all remaining items regardless of whether you selected Need or Greed." If you can bypass the lockout by getting loot by having your party pass on the desired item then take advantage of it until it's patched. Now if RNG is really crappy or if there's a loot bug like what turn 1 coil had and you see a lot of the same gear and everyone passes but you forget to and acquire the loot and get locked out that's kind of bogus.
I think it means that, even if you pass, if you're the last one to be left inside the instance or instance part/level/segment it will still end up in your loot.
Not really sure but, something like this may have happened to me while speedrunning WP. I passed on the Tonberry King loot (random DL weapon) but since other 3 people in my DF party dropped duty, instead of exiting via portal, and I was the last one inside WP the DL weapon ended in my loot. Regardless on me passing on it.
Still, CT lockout logic doesn't go past the "let's make the content last longer" as you can gear yourself better in Coil, where you can get more than one drop per weekly lockout for more than one job. Of course, either if you're lucky or your party passes on items in your favour. Still chuckling at the "used for vanity" comment on CT loot they made in the live letter.... Oh well.
