High housing costs = server gil reduction
The sky is falling I know!
I was initially shocked by the housing prices. Especially on the legacy servers.
Then I thought a little deeper on the reason behind such high prices. Is SE trying to reduce the vast amounts of wealth being horded by players? Can this be a short term inconvenience become a long term boon for each server economy?
If a FC on a legacy server must have large housing on day 1 and they are able to afford the staggering entry price. That gil is lost and gone forever. That gil will not go back into circulation, it's not being exchanged to another player. This is a huge gil sink.
Even on non-legacy server the destruction of gil from housing purchases might have a positive effect on the economy in the long run. As over time as more and more FC are able to afford what ever size housing, vast amounts of available gil will be taken out circulation.
Even after 90 days on the market housing is still expensive on some servers, SE might possibly revise housing costs with each version update (approx. 90 days apart) reflecting the current gil in circulation on each server.
That's one of the nice things about an evolving game, things change, this also gives long term goals for FCs that can't buy a tract on day 1.
