Scholars are too good in pve and pvp soon

I hope se gets it's act together before patch goes out. There are videos now of every raid encounter being solo healed by scholar up to phase 2 of Bc. High end guilds are ditching white Mage for double scholar now and pvp is looking to make scholar healing the reigning king of healers.

I haven't seen that trend. Whm can solo heal. anything a sch can. might be freaking out over nothing.

I highly doubt a SCH can solo heal Caduceus. Did you try that?
Solo healing Titan can work if everyone has good equip and can evade all the AoE attacks except tumult.

If you have your normal party with mixed dungeon/crafted/DL/AF2 gear and relic, with people learning the fights or getting more practice, I doubt you'll be able to solo heal.

Scholars are "too good" simply because the Scholar job only attracts awesome players.

You cannot nerf awesomeness.

While I share your concern in regards to pvp and actually just now made a thread in the general section about it (fancy timing..) I think you vastly exaggerate the power of the SCH vs WHM in pve content. It's also linked to how some of the boss fight mechanics work (dps checks, high incoming crit damage). I do trust that SE is going to introduce more different mechanics that hopefully don't penalize the WHM due to encounter design. Either way, WHM/SCH is still king over SCH/SCH in 90% of the situations. To each its own I guess.

And to make it clear, I do play both the jobs and think have a decent understanding of the mechanics of both.

It's just funny how, some weeks ago, everyone was like "OMG YOU NEED WHITE MAGES FOR COIL LOL U NOOB"

Now, suddenly, SCHs are OP.

Well, ok.

I find it also funny because for a long time I was fighting off SCH saying how OP WHMs are and I tried to explain all the things that everyone all of a sudden realizes are so super powerful now.
It's only boss mechanics that make SCH much more reliable then WHM (and it's true to a certain extend).

The fact that thanks can get crit for insane amount of damage which can basically one shot even a great geared tank just makes shield and mitigation king. There is nothing short out of Stoneskin that a WHM can do since they patch up damage they don't focus on preventing it.

Not to mention a lot of fights are dps checks which means the SCH is again a better asset since a WHM doesn't have the time or the MP to help with DPS in current end game content (save for a few dots and a holy maybe in Coil but that won't make a huge difference). Then put Selene into the mix: Skill and spell speed buff while still healing without MP and enmity issues.

Advanced Protect and healing power are still a WHMs area and I am still convinced that WHM/SCH combo is the best but in paper and keeping burst damage in mind SE has to go over the books and make sure they cater to both jobs. More importantly, design boss encounters with boss jobs in mind.

I still don't see the sky falling for WHMs if SE is aware of this. :)

Murder their pet. Aww, damn, they're neutered.

So much of Scholar throughput is tied to their pet. Force them to blow their Aetherflow stacks on Lustrate, then murder them.

Pretty much summed up this entire thread in a post!

From my experiences thus far as WHM, I can solo heal everything up to BCoB comfortably. (I've only ran through BC t1-4 once)

As for PvP! 4v4 battles as healer should be interesting... See who can keep the WHM/SCH alive longest! Pure vit builds! I think that's where SCH will win big time... Run around while pet heals and just try to kite dps.

Fair enough, still leaves me (on SCH) to dot and insta blind and swiftcast a fairy again and still leaves me with my adlo shields. It's like having to deal with an additional team member which takes focus away from actually killing the other four, though.

I've played pvp focused games most of my mmo career and I am concerned that my WHM will have a hard time dealing with incoming burst damage. Someone mentioned Swiftcast holy, which is a good start..but you do that once and then you will have to cast it normally, channel through hits and lose time which you could spend on raw healing. Not to mention I am sure pvp gear will have plenty of resists against debuffs, sleep and stuns.

I also really hope they keep the Fairies protection against AoE in mind for PvP.
