About the 1.0 Cutscenes
I attempted to search through the forums, but for some reason the search function doesn't work well for me... so here I go:
I'm hoping someone could answer this for me. Did the devs, a little bit of time ago, mention implementing the 1.0 Cutscenes into ARR, but recreating them for ARR's engine? I just don't want to think I'm going crazy because I miss watching those Cutscenes with my character's reactions, and pray they will be making a return soon enough. All this talk about Hildibrand returning really makes me want to see the CS of my character waking to his "malicious intent" face!

I remember it too but it might have been a misinterpretation or a mistranslation, some cutscenes did transition mostly the same to ARR but look worse than the did in 1.0 in the new engine. Overall most of the new cutscenes look rushed and are missing the great motion capture, camera work and visual effects the old CS had and instead just use stock in game animations mostly recycled from emotes or NPCs.

The two engines used for both games are completley different, they'd have to go back and re-make each cut-scene.
(You may notice facial animation, camera styles etc. are completley different in 2.0, worse for the most-part actually).
Your only option is to use youtube to watch them, where every-single 1.23 cutscene was uploaded and made available a long-long time ago.

It would be nice if there was a sort of Legacy questline where you could see all of the crazy Tanaka storyline from 1.0 and then the beginning of the Yoshida plotline. That said, the Collector's Edition of the game came with another disc that has the highlights of the Yoshida plot spelled out on it.
Crazy or not though, I liked the Tanaka questline. It also acted as the way the player character met Minfillia as well, further explaining about the Echo. And boy, did the Echo need explaining. Would be nice to see those storylines expanded upon. Speaking of 1.0 Minfillia, I want to meet my adventuring fellow again. Hope she didn't die in the Calamity, because her obsession with alliteration was altogether absolutely astounding.

yeah, don't quite understand the echo, but I've only played the "new" story. "hey, you can see the past when it's relevant to the plot for like 30 seconds, oh and for some reason, the primals can't temper you, and you get like super mega strong sometimes too."
kinda seems like a mary sue story, or like we needed lots of deus ex machina and then they wanted to still play you off as just an average person.

Had to search around, but I'm holding them to this. I really hope this isn't a mistranslation but...
"Replayable Cutscenes
As part of A Realm Reborn, the content of nearly all cinematic cutscenes will be reworked. This will result in significantly different viewing experiences for the same cutscene between the current version of the game and A Realm Reborn."

This will make me an EXTREMELY happy panda, even if there will be huge differences between the experiences.
I did like the storyline of both, especially post 1.23. The original main scenario had a really terrible cliffhanger ending that wasn't exactly fulfilling. Nevertheless all the scenes were beautiful in 1.0.
For example, this...

Okay, that's a bit scary. But the shot was awesome!
This was also awesome... loved Taly's facial expression XD

Yeah, I remember them mentioning this as well and after I saw that the job cut-scenes from 1.0 were carried over I felt that it may have either been mistranslated or misinterpreted.
I'm still holding out hope that we will get the old 1.0-1.23 cut-scenes back via the Journal, and that they will eventually tie the two story lines together.
We still have a black hole for where a good chunk of the story should be, and characters that impacted the world in a big way in 1.0 have apparently never existed... or something like that.
Now if they want to explain away the missing characters by saying we didn't really return to our world after exiting the void, but instead entered a different dimension/universe where they never existed in the first place, I'd be disappointed, but at least the hole would be patched.
If that ever turned out to be the case then I guess we could say "Farewell old Eorzea. Looks like Bahamut actually destroyed you after all."
