About MNK's AA and lighting

I've been looking for some info about GL buffs on MNK and couldn't find answer on one of my questions.

When we compare DRG and MNK, most of us compare skills, dots and of-gcd skills.

Anyways, MNK can get +5% damage from Fists of Fire, +10% damage from Twin Snakes and +7% damage and +5% Attack Speed for each Lighting.

If we compare relic's +1 AA of MNK (41.70 AA and 2.72 Delay) and DRG (47.84 AA and 3.12 delay), we'll see the same DPS - 15.33 DPS.

However, if we stack all the damage from Monk's skills, we'll get 41.70*1.1*1.07*1.07*1.07*1.05=59.00 AA and 2.72*0.95*0.95*0.95=2.33 delay.
This will be 25.32 DPS.

For DRG it will be better too after +10% buff, but not that high. and with BFB there will be still non-comparable difference.

So, my general question - haven't anyone tried to test real delay after all 3 GL stacks?
Will the delay really be 2.33 for relic +1 ?

the buff from light strike increse skill speed not attack speed, and it not affect AA but only gcd of the skill

the AA speed come only from weapon, there isn't anythink that modify AA speed in the game

GL definitely affects AA. The only thing in the game that lowers AA speed.

I think it's additive, must be something like 41.7*(1+0.1+0.21+0.05)

In the tool tip for Greased Lightning it says, "Increases damage dealt by 7% and attack speed by 5%"

Leads the user to believe it also reduces AA speed, otherwise it'd say "skill speed", right? However, this is SE we are talking about and their terminology may be off again. :(

It's my understanding that it does, in fact, affect AA speed. I'll probably wind up testing it later today, though; I kinda prefer testing things when I hear contradictory information or the information might be assumed.

EDIT: Just did testing to confirm. FFXIV App recorded 200 attacks with a 2.40 base speed weapon. The 200th attack occurred around the 7:12 mark, versus the 8:00 mark it would take if there were no effect.

EDIT 2: I should probably make clear that this is with a lvl 23 PGL, meaning I only have 2 stacks of GL (10%).

This would be really easy to test using the ACT parser. This parser can show you how often (and for how much damage) all your attacks hit, so it can do this for your auto-attacks as well. Unfortunately, I'm off to work soon or I would post some data for you.

Did you start recording with 2 stacks on you? Or first ~15 seconds were with less GL?

If you'll take 2.40 base speed and the effect of GL is additive, like Rapiso said, then your attack speed under GL should be 2.40*(1 - 0.05 - 0.05) = 2.16, and 200th attack should occur on 7:12 mark indeed. If not additive, it should be worse: 2.40*0.95*0.95 = 2.166, and your 200th attack should occur on 7:13 mark. This is not ver easy to record, I guess we need 3rd GL stack and longer delay for more info.

If we take spharai with 2.72 delay and do the same record, 200th attack with 3 GL will shot it's 200th attack on:
1) additive: 2.72*0.85=2.312 delay and 7:42 mark
2) non-additive: 2.72*0.95*0.95*0.95= 2.33206 delay and 7:46 mark

I guess, the most interesting effect here is that GL should have non-additive effect on damage, same with other buffs.
Because, if not, then wecan get only plain 36% damage bonus instead of 41.5% damage bonus of non-additive variant.
With all bufs present and all GL stacks up this 5.5% more damage should be noticeable for 50lvl monks.

Started timing/recording when I engaged the dummy with Bootshine. Further complicating efforts to precisely time things is the fact that your first AA will land somewhere around the 1 second mark, and only after that will attacks suffer the full delay. Part of the reason I went for 200 attacks was to dilute the effects of the first attack and the ramp-up time.
