Game does not properly support quadraphonic (4.1) sound.

I have a 4.1 sound system for my computer and each time a cut scene plays with voice acting the character voices only come through my back left speaker and very quietly. General game sound is also screwed up as the regular sounds do not play at all through the back left speaker. I have switched to 2.1 sound and everything works fine. I have also read on a reddit thread that others have had the same issue but switching to 5.1 or 7.1 also fixes the problem. I know my drivers and speakers are fine as this is the only application that this issue occurs. Any ideas?
